Again I have to say at the top of this forum it says WHITES MXT USER FORUM. why do you guys come on here trying to discredit the MXT. I think you guys needs to get together and start a M6 users forum.

If you would take the 6x10 coil off your M6 and put it on your MXT you would leave your M6 home more than the MXT. At least compare the two detectors using the same coil and in the same soil conditions. JMHO Dennis in Idaho

Hi nice article
i have the M6 and MXT but when i go out its always been the M6 My MXT is a good machine but like R-bass said for coins M6 if your going prospecting MXT
I would love to up again MXT using my M6 coin searching . My MXT 300 is 7 moth old used it twice big coil not good i have a Eclipse DD (6x10) on my M6. I found lots of silver with this machine 1 gold ring.3 junk ring and 7 silver rings i don't think my MXT will beat my M6
searching for coin. you want simplicity turn on and pump a few times and your off the M6, you want to play with nobs MXT

If you learn really, really learn to operate and be one with the MXT I think the M6 would be your spare detector.:whites::thumbup:

I'm confused. All this MXT vs M6 controversy. Yet, the M6 is an MXT minus the Relic and Prospecting Mode, minus the threshold control and has 7 tones instead of one (2 if you count the iron grunt and relic mode).

So its a specialized coin hunter based on the MXT's circuitry. My take on it is if all you want is an easy turn on and go coin and jewelry machine that can help eliminate the digging of certain bad targets by VDI by tone, then by all means the M6 is the machine for you. And it'll do a darn good job.

I chose the MXT because I find that good treasure often can hide as bad VDI numbers, icons, and tones. Also, with very deep targets, you can throw the VDI and tones out the window as they will lie to you. So, I often dig most signals above iron and don't need the multiple tones and I like the threshold for the deeper "whispers". This makes me a slower clad hunter, but a more thorough hunter, as I have often found jewelry and other items that shouted out "I am foil" or "I am a pulltab". I could have bought an M6 to do the same thing, but I also live a few hours away from some gold bearing mountains and intend to try my hand at nugget hunting soon, plus I am used to single tone machines (and for me, there is a lot of information in that single tone that helps me avoid digging some trash)

If I wanted to listen to bells and whistles I would give up metal detecting and play the slot machines. And just think of the coins you would find...........:clapping:

You must have a special secret Bob.......I'm more likely to lose coins there...

Both are awesome machines and I have used them both. My hunting partner has an MXT and I have an M6. If coin shooting is going to be your primary goal, then you can;t beat the simplicity of a turn on and go machine. Both machines have very similar guts, and as much as it hurts me to say it...... the MXT is a more versitile machine. so the question is what are you going to look for. My hunting partner and I usually end up up with very similar loot. At a price difference of about a hundred bucks, consider the MXT because you might expand the type of hunting that you do in the future. That being said, the M6 with the 6x9 DD coil is a coin and ring hog!!! I have found more rings with my M6 than my hunting partner, but I wouldn't attribute that to the machine, just the luck of what you walk over. I think that no matter which machine that you pick, you will be pleased and have many great finds in your future.

Could be that you like digging those "iffy" signals just a little bit better too?

Hey bob you say that bells and whistle are for slots then you are saying to me that the VDI is what you rely on most of the time with that being said most VDI are not accurate pass about 5" or so
tell me then how dose a blind person find his way in the dark i will tell you how by touch and sound get it "sound" you limit your self with just VDI numbers remember VDI do lie more offend in the deep.
But i have found more coins with the tones in the deep than with the VDI numbers. You joke at the M6 for being a slot machine with sounds well a lot of people would like to have the extra tone options.
Back in the day MDs never had VDI numbers just one tone then came analog tone and a needle wow!!! but if i had the choice over VDI or tones give me the tones all the way
but remember the M6 has tones and VDI and power . Now as this being a mxt forum your correct but we are talking about the mxt plus the M6 and there is a place for the M6 here and we are part of the whites team

Hey R-bass are you ready for that challenge on nugget hunting, I know a great place in Arizona that produces nice size nuggets we could meet some where and drive out there, you bring what ever detector you want. I will bring my MXT and we will hunt a couple days and see who finds the most. I will even pay for the trip. It would be worth it to me to see your prospecting skills. Like I said will not cost you anything but your time....................

Everyone has their own opinion on detectors and some just don't know when to quit. If you want a comparison on the two------please READ past posts! It's all there in black and white! Thank you and HH, Nancy

Have I told you how much I love my MXT?

If your answer to me is you have no clue then wow what a come back you score you hit a grand slam but the truth hurts:cry: as far as gold hunting goes a banjo and a mxt you can have

Does that mean no "Duel in the Desert? Thats to bad because I was going to put my money on Hillbilly Bob and his MXT. HH Dennis in Idaho

Why keep mentioning gold. Obviously the MXT is a better prospecting machine than the M6. However, when it comes to tones, the M6 will leave the MXT in the dust.
