MX5 vs M6

Put it this way. You will be very happy with whites. Ive been detecting since the 1970's have used most every brand and there is a reason i stay with whites.

Yes single tone has very good information in it .. I have been using 2 tone and really like it. I found an 8 inch deep nickel it was a smooth tone , edges were smooth and it wasnt as loud as a shallow sounding target. You could tell it was good. However we had snow storm come thru some im stuck like chuck. But in a few days i will be back out. This mx5 found me 2 silver war nickels in just a couple hours use. Plus a first shield nickel. So its got the power and info needed.

Monte tested it on nail board 7 out of 8. Very good rating. I think he said 8 out of 8 a couple try's. I can say this, it will find good targets in holes with rusty nails. Ive done it. It has amazed me and it will you also.

I've had my mx5 for a week or so and find the tones tend to jump around a little, the 1 and 2 tones are fine. Like the light weight as have had 4 mxt's and 2 m6 and 5 Prizms. the mx5 seems to be deeper than a prizm and about the same depth as mxt. however a fella from whites dealer mentioned that it seems that when a pegboard is sized down the new item (detector) doesn't seem to have as much depth as original???? don't know the answer to this yet. Really like the features on the mx5 and the back light. The Prizm 5 had a digital vco and they have a different one on the mx5. The heads are many for the mx5 also so no more waiting for a new kind of head. been detecting for 43 yrs and really like Whites values, shortribs (sw mo)

Well, even though I am not 100% sure I got the tones issue worked out, I am pretty sure I will like the MX5 as well as the M6. Couple of features I just love - backlight and the standby mode (both the MX5 and the M6 just talk up a storm to my ProPointer!)

I also noticed that the see thru on whites (trash near coin) is a whole lot better on the mx5,you can get a better reading when coin is NEXT to iron nail etc,I was really happy with that feature as whites are notorious for blanking out near trash-coin point, but not now. That one feature will bring you in a lot of coins that were previously over looked or nulled out. shortribs

yes its very very good in trash.. it could be the lightening fast response..or that it can just read thru it?? ive only been able to test the one target in my yard I found with the mx5. mx5 read like 42-43 on vdi, very smooth clear tone and showed 8 in deep or so..i the used that coil on my v3i and got a very chirpy tone, vdi was from iron to 60's I tried several settings to try and make it better but im not good enough appearently yet with v3i to make signal better...I honestly thought the target was a piece of aluminum , but I was testing so I didn't care .. my goal was to see which detector could find something without rust in a part of my yard that is full of rusty metal.. target surprised me a shield nickel cant see a date at a solid 8 inches deep. I was a happy camper. but I was somewhat upset that I didn't get that good signal with my v3i.. ive always preferred simple mxtpro function to the v3i style but im trying it..for now lol this snow should melt off this week and I will be back out. so far I have found several nickels including a buffalo and 2 silver war nickels along with some deep Wheaties with the mx5 with very little hunting time. the fact that the good targets were all living next to rusty trash has made me a believer! could this be the future of whites?
