Went back to the ROW today and was really suprised with what i found. Detected a little over five hours and found 168 coins and other things which consisted of: 2 Bling Rings, 1 Reno Dog Tag, 1 Las Vegas Token, 82 Zincs, 60 Coppers, 19 Dimes, 2 Nickels, 1 Qtr, 2 Wheats,1 Rosie, and last but not least a Standing Liberty Qtr. Man i'll tell you i'm real tired after all that digging but it was well worth it. HH Jim

If I may, what kind of ROW are you referring to? Roadway, powerline, residential utilities (city water/sewer)??? Please describe. TIA!

I will work from the sidewalk to the street. Even then I have had the cops called on me. They know what I am doing is legal(this occurred across the street from where our county sheriff lives). I just go on my merry way and find another place to hunt.

Where I am the ROW is for the majority either 80 feet or 60 feet. This translates to street width dictating the distance. Two lane Arterials 80 and the smaller Residential 60 (center of roadway either 40 or 30 either way). In some cases that translates into beyond the sidewalk. Yes, some property owners get it in their head if they maintain it they own it. Some newer areas here place the sidewalks against the curb, I have been just avoiding those areas.
Check with your engineers office at city hall, they have a web tool that overlays the legal property lines over an aerial photo, 99% accurate in their terms.

I was friends with the head of the city's maintenance and building department and he went over easements with me just before he retired a few months ago. Remember I live in a town of 2500. Jim
