Here are the results of my second and third times out with my V3 since it was updated to the V3i. I would like to mention I could have found many more targets in the allotted time but I have been using different coils, changing settings, shifting to different frequencies, etc which take a lot of time away from detecting.
Pretty amazing considering the place I am detecting I have hunted all the way back to 1974 with all kinds of detectors and others have pounded it as well.
Trip #2 results for 2 hrs and 15 minutes with the 12" coil. I really enjoyed using this coil on this trip unlike when I had my first one of these that never seemed to work right until White's replaced it.
12 Minnie balls 10-12" deep again with many on edge, pointed up or down, and many flattened but turned on edge.
One nice New York Coat button, the first button I have ever found in these woods along with some camp lead.
I did not dig a lot of percussion caps and 22 bullets this time out cause for times sake I was ignoring target ID of +1 ish.
I hunt in high pro and experimented with settings but always have boost on.
What I am finding here is I am getting some form of what appears to be EMI but in reading some of the troubleshooting tips it may be ground noise?
The only way I can deal with it completly is using the 7 khz single. 3 is bad and 22 is not usable.
TRIP # 3 approx. 2 1/2 hrs 11 or 12 minnies, started using the 950 coil and was doing pretty well with it, got some around 11" measured in the ground after scraping the leaves off but what was interesting is some of them would only give iron ID until I got several inches of dirt off which had never happened like this before. As the sun started to go down and I moved to a different area the 950 did not seen to work right so I took my 10" DD back out of my backpack and traded coils to finish the hunt. I will try and post some photos tomorrow, the button cleaned up fantastic and I did not even clean it all the way.
What a great detector, can't wait to really learn all the things it can do.
