MORE DEPTH !!

I had the DFX , Garrett GTP1350, Wader, and just traded my 3 yr old CZ5 for the Sovereign GT. I still have a 1236x2 and Eagle Spectrum but not used as often now.
My current hunting partners are the XLT ,Modified IDX Pro,
Sov GT and Advantage.
I'm tempted to get the X 50 now but trying to hold off until Spring or until something sells.

Thanks again Cody and i thoroughly enjoy reading the technical analysis, opinions and experiences posted by You ,Monte, Ralph and others and although it may make my head spin at times it's always enjoyable and eye opening.

I know this is not the form for other detector but what it the the Modification on the IDX Pro? Steve wrote a very good post on the new Whites that says a lot about shared attitudes with a lot of us. One of the best professional post I have read about attitudes and brands and a good look at the new Whites.

We have some lousy weather and the holidays so I will nail an X-terra 50 the first of the new year. Good luck on finding the one that is right for you. I guess what most of us want is a good fit and to know we have not wasted our money. I never gripe about paying for a great steak but want what I pay for.

Well i'm going to read Steve's post and agree on your steak analogy. I'm getting tired of looking for the best single detector based on everyone elses opinion now i'm looking for the best niche detectors to fill in the gaps. I hope i don't get in trouble but here's the link to explain Mr.Bill mods :ninja:  http://www.surfscanner.com/Surfscan3/IDXPhotos.html

Thanks again

That machine exist. It's called a Phase Readout Gradiometer, or PRG for short. But good luck finding one. In 1972 they cost $1000, and have not been built since the late seventies. Put up a WTB on Finds Classified ads for one. If I can get a copy of a users guide for one I'll let you know.

Wow ... look back 2 years ... and then look ahead 2.

Perhaps I should quit buying coils for the x-70 ... and start saving my coin for the x-90 or zx-110

What do you all think?

At some point it will be work as you say but its not the 20" depth potential that is the best with such a detector.

It will see more 8"-12" coins and there is many left.

It will see more coins at 5" and on edge.

It will probably not see all coins below 12 " still if it has the potential, there will still be minerals and junk in the volume of dirt you scan that interfer with the signals.

I would also like to see a detector that sends out a scanning signal like a laser beam with no sidespill. using a 4" coil on a such detector that can see 12" deep will be absolutely perfect.

my2cents.
