The "Ferret" was simply a model name for a group of coils that were usually smaller and able to work better between trash to <EM>"ferret" out</EM> the good targets.
Detech is simply another coil manufacturer. Persoanlly, I like the term "Excelerator" but it is not unusual to have a product produced under a different name. Perhaps the "Hot Head" and "Ferret" names are something that Kellyco (or the powers that be there) prefer, so it is simply a decal name change from "Excelerator" to "Hot Head and "Ferret?"
Those earlier "Hot Head" <EM>"Ferret"</EM> coils were not exclusive to the Garrett models, by the way. I used one and then later got one for myself for use on the XLT, XL Pro, Classic IDX & Classic III I had at the time. It was one of the best coils I ever used on those models, and I especially preferred it on the slow-motion Classic series for working very trashy ghost towns.
