Mode vs discrimination settings

A question for the Etrac experts. I’ve had my etrac for 5 years, but I’ve been on injured reserve for over a year. I want to ask a question that I should know the answer to.

There are 2 settings, Mode, and discrimination patterns. Does one override the other? I’m using the Andy Sabatich pattern and my discrimination pattern 1, and I have a mode indicator of 1 on the screen. Does doing this negate any “MODE” settings, or do I need coin mode and the Sabatich pattern?

I apologize, I’ve been away from it too long to remember.

I don’t think so Hotrod, you should be fine. The Mode is more about how the machine processes the signals you obtain with the discrimination pattern you set and the response it gives within whatever Mode you’re using. Your pattern shouldn’t have an effect on how it processes and responds. Keep in mind…really tight patterns might chop something off but if you’re running Andy’s deal you should be fine. IMO FWIW….

Went out detecting yesterday and it was mostly a disaster. I probably forgot more about Etrac programming than I should have.

I went to a local park yesterday, all part of my knee and degenerated disc rehab. My detector was going crazy, almost unusable, and I only found 1 coin. I soon realized that my settings were all messed up.

When using the exchange program a few days ago, I saw that the modes were blank. Not remembering any better, I put the Sabatich program in My Mode 1, that’s what messed everything up and why it was going crazy. Once I went to Minelab coin mode and stayed in the Sabatich discrimination mode, things turned around, I found a small handful of coins. My tones were also changed from my preferred 4 to multi, which I never liked.

It’s all starting to come back to me now and I’m looking to getting out more soon. I’ll be looking for a new custom mode program now that remember what the mode does. I’m sure the stock Minelab coin mode is fine for now, it’s what have used for the last 5 years.

Don’t feel alone on forgetting the settings on a detecyoyou haven’t used in a while. I took my 705 to a mineralized park and noise cancelled but didn’t ground balance because I thought I had tracking on. I had nothing but falses and found zilch.. 😑

We loved the 705's, we had 4 between us and I held onto mine for a few years as a backup before I sold it. We still have 1 and it's still doing its job. Thats a great silver machine!
