Apparently the high prices are not enough profit margin.
First XP now NM

Minelab Electronics PTY LTD filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they infringed on the plaintiff's patent through their distribution of a metal detector.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds XP Metal Detectors and Detector Electronics Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly manufacture and offer for sale metal detectors that can store data, a feature that purportedly infringes on at least one aspect of the plaintiff's patent.

Store data? That might have to do with the GPS and logging in your finds. XP has their own version either in the works or it’s out. Also, there are other apps that are available now to download. But it’s only my guess or opinion.

The other item is the collapsible shaft, XP and Nokta had that before ML

NM also had the flashlight and vibrating handle first.
They are suing while at the same time copying who they are suing.
If they Just lower prices to a fair point they would do fine
Arrogance, and it rubs off on some consumers

It appears that Minelab Electronics PTY LTD, filed a complaint against XP Metal Detectors and Detector Electronics Corp, alleging that they have infringed on the plaintiff's patent through their distribution of a metal detector. The complaint alleges that the defendants are manufacturing and selling metal detectors that store data, a feature that allegedly infringes on at least one aspect of the plaintiff's patent. The plaintiff is claiming that this has caused damages to their business.
It's worth noting that this information is based on a court filing and it's still ongoing, the defendants may have a different point of view and it's up to the court to decide on the validity of the claim.
It's also important to point out that patent infringement lawsuits are common in the technology and manufacturing industry, and it's not uncommon for companies to assert their intellectual property rights to protect their investments in research and development.
It's important to note that this case doesn't have any relation with get email address from LinkedIn, as it's a completely different topic, LinkedIn has its own terms of service and user agreement, scraping or using any automated means to collect data from LinkedIn is not allowed and might result in account suspension or legal action.

Patent litigation is fairly common nowadays and patent owners like to protect their rights. Even if the patent doesnt have a leg to stand on, the lawsuit could delay a competitors product getting to market if the claim is strong enough. Or it could get the defendant to settle where the patent owner ends up with a royalty on their sale of the products that are claimed to be infringing on the patent. The strength of the patent could determine whether they settle or go to trial. Just another part of business!
