Mixed War Nickel Signals?

I dug two war nickels last Saturday, one came in like a normal nickel 12-13 and the other one was 12-28,30 I know it is odd but I have had them come in all over the place.
 
The last one I found was at about 5" and hit solid both ways 14-14. I didn't rescan it after it was out of the hole though, so I don't know how much influence the ground and/or other items affected that signal.
 
I have over 100 war nickels, I should scan some with my new etrac that I have not been able to use yet:ban:.........NGE
