While I'm answering surveys: on the programs that I have set up: All Metal is set 20 points lower than Discrimination. (I didn't learn this from experience, I guess it's the default I've seen used most often by others). Once again, my 2 cents is probably worth something less than 2 cents. Dave
I use this program primarily in trashy areas. I have learned to put up with the chatter. It really helps to find the good targets. I know when the coil is no longer over iron and slow down trying to sweep the edges of axe heads and horse shoes. I found almost 4 pocket watches last time out, only one was 90% complete.
I keep my all metal and disc pretty high I guess. As high as I can until it starts to false, 80 all metal and 85 for disc. It really helps bring out the midrange conductors, but digging 5" for .22 cases starts to really drive me nuts.
I like/use stereo mm - keep 'em even 0/0 - sens - am 65 disc 85 - rx 4-7....usually works for me. Sometimes push setting a little....but I like stable machine - good vdi#s. gl and hh
I run pretty hot because stereo MM I use in farm fields and open areas. The all metal hot settings of 80 to 85 have me lifting the coil often to see where loud all metal hits drop out. My disc is 90 - 95. Stability first, so these values can be reduced if needed. I'm going to get to run SMM at a special 1706 farm in April where I used it successfully before. The house was built 1706 - 1708 and appears much as it did in 1750. There are 10 acres remaining of the original 600 granted by the Crown.
