Minelab x70 and the sunray :ranting:
Randy,

Had Minelab followed through with their original promise (from their CEO in Australia) to license us and sell us the required chip we would simply have chosen one of the three for our probe (more than likely the lower frequency for coins, relics, etc). - not all three.

Ralph (Sun Ray)
That if you made the probe for the Xterra line that in order to use your probe a guy would need to buy a different probe for each frequency of coil??? Or you would simply not make the probe for two of the frequencies. How would you decide which to build when as Digger stated each coil is favored for different types of detecting.
Confused???

Since the probe is a coil, we would have to make a choice just like Minelab did. Either make three probes with detachable connectors (which I think would not be practical and too expensive), each with a different freguency or just one which would serve as an all around pinpointer, either 3 or 7.5 khz. The probe is not on at the same time as the coil so it doesn't make a difference which coil frequency is being used with the probe. Also, there is a moment when switching from coil to probe and back again where there is nothing connected electronically which (should) give time for the different micro chip to be read and adjusted by the control housing. However, that would have to be determined in reality by R&D but should work fine. However, it is a mute point as Minelab probably is not going to reverse their decision. If you have noticed, Coiltek or Detech has not come out with any accessory coils for the X-Terra series for this same reason.
