Minelab repair service!

Wow I hope they get things straighten out fast, hearing these things makes me quiver. I thought by the earlier post on this board before I purchased my unit that there was no problems with return service. That was one of my main reasons for purchasing my X70. Obviously when you take on more business with the release of two new units (E-Trac and the Safari) you will have more to service. At $800 a pop Times the large number of units sold they should be able to hire and retain more than one technician.
MineLab produces a wonderful machine, however seeing these problems make me worry if I ever have a problem.
I really hope they can get things corrected soon.

Was sold on the ML technology lead, but will now buy a white's beach hunter 300 after Christmas. What I am reading sounds like the old story of a leading brand being acquired by another company and the new "parents" start cutting to the bone to save money. Result is a slip in quality and service for the customers.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, but nothing lasts forever. Just look at our financial and economic system buring while the politicians play fiddle in Washington DC. It had a good 60 year run but they screwed the pooch. Hope ML's owners wake up soon and say the pooch, but I am not optimistic.

Come on now guys, buy whatever brand you want but spare us the novice judgments about ML having bad quality. All brands have slips in service and sometimes detectors need to be serviced. As far as I can tell, there are only a few incidents where a ML detector has quality issues and those that do are fixed right up. Whites has had issues with detectors as well as other brands but generally they try to make it right. Dragging up one thread to the top just to prove a point about poor service or quality is what I would call "poochy". Most us can see through vague attempts to slam a brand.
A lot of forum readers have used detectors by various brands, are well informed so you never know, they might have a combination of a Whites, ML, Fisher or Garrett.
Point is this is not merited as far as ML quality or service.
