Minelab Explorer XS

I just purchased this detector and I can’t seem to get the ferrous number to show up before conductivity meaning I only get a single number for conductivity when scanning a target. Can someone please help get the ferrous number back. I don’t have a manual and only found the manual for the explorer se. Thanks

That explorer only has the conducive numbers not the ferrous..The explorer 2 was the start of two sets of numbers, ferrous and non ferrous. The xs was made before that and only has one set of numbers, conductive.. Great machine though

Shyt! I wouldn’t have purchased it had I known that but I guess I will give it a fair shake. Thanks for the assistance!

Your not missing alot without having the ferrous numbers..I used a XS alot, it's actually simpler and I've made just as good of finds as I did with the explorer SE..that's a great machine, the heart of fbs before all the reworking went on.
That machine is a nickel hog too. I've dug more nickels and deeper ones with a fbs machine than any other machine. I think they come in as a 6-8 on that machine

If you go into the menu you can get it to show either ferrous or conductive. Not both.
Careful with the tone setting.
It'll play symphony if you let. LoL
P. S.
With the 15" coil on mine I dug the deepest hole digging up a silver plated bottle opener. 30" +

I believe if you want both the ferrous and conductivity you have to switch to the smart screen as it is more of a graph and not digital numbers.
Myself why I didnt care for it was because the tones were too high and so fast sounding compared to my Sovereign I was using. I am very hard of hearing so some of the tones were so weak and fast I missed some of them. The E-Trac was the one that had the tone holding the tone of the last target so I could tell when I got a different target the detector seen.

I too have terrible hearing. I could only enjoy the XS in mono tone. No flutes. Because of that I drifted away from it. I'll still get it out for special specific item search. Blank the smart screen and accept the signal for identical item. To bad the 900 and manticore can't do that.
On my GT. The hold last tone actually gets on my nerves. I'd like it to hold the times a few seconds as opposed to holding until it hits next target.
Any tips on that ? I'm still new to the GT.

It’s funny you say that because I went to a school field and pulled buffalo nickel after buffalo nickel probably 14-16” down with my SE and nothing else. It really loved nickels

I may get an etrac in the future. I collect detectors and I have heard good things about it too

Was that using the 15" Nel Tornado coil?
