Minelab, are you listening? How about a 6" for the Manticore?

I've been talking with several people who like myself jumped from the Equinox 800 to the Manticore. The 6" Equinox coil was nothing short of amazing for those of us that prefer hunting in dense trash like ghost towns and construction tear outs. For a little coil, it even gets respectable depth. Now it seems most manufacturers are shying away from the 5 and 6" coils...

Like my friends, I bucked up for the M9 for the Manticore and yes, it's a good coil. What it's not in my opinion effective at is noodling around under sagebrush and in tight around old foundations. I like the M8 as well but for me, it doesn't seem to have the hard lock onto good targets the 6"DD does.

Curious what other opinions are on this?

This is true a round coil will always get better depth and better ID than a elliptical coil size to size . sube

I am surprised that they came out with a 9 inch coil since Mark Lawrie said when it was released that the manticore was a one and done no manticore 2 .
So these coils only fit the manticore and won't fix the next detector why would they expand the coil line I am sure they thought the 15 11 9 and 5x8 was good enough .
Then again how many manticores are out there compared to the nox probably the bean counters said it was not worth there time .
You need to buy the next minelab coming out I can guarantee you your manticores coils will not work with it . sube

Minelab needs a hearing aid. What they really like listening to is the cash register.
RichW, you are not wrong.

Used to be ya had to go to a trusted dealer, now anyone who walks into a sporting goods store can buy off the shelf (without one word being said about detecting ethics, expert tips, etc) and their website was a welcome place for the little guy to share.
It seems the Marketing team is steering the ship... I get you gotta pay the bills but ya gotta remember your loyal hobbyists who helped build you up. I'd venture a guess that more machines are sold because of our word of mouth than any other factor.

Don't get me wrong, I love Minelab machines and am willing to drop the better part of a paycheck on what I consider to be the best performers available. Just wish our non "Detexpert" feedback mattered more...
