:minelab:Announcing Minelab's Pro-Find 25. :minelab:

As stated on Minelab's website, 24 months. HH Randy

Randy and albert thanks for the great info. I love my Pro but the features this offers, I will be upgrading glad to see ML finally getting into that market. Looking very forward to using.

Just wish it wasn't black like the Garrett. Most people here end up painting their Garrett since it's almost invisible if you drop it or forget it on a plowed field. It might look cooler in black but neon yellow or red is way more practical.

I hear guys mentioning the color - a few points:

I've never forgot mine after a dig - not in two years. It is just like habit to me. I try to lay it to the same side on every dig. Little things like that really help. With the new Minelab, if you leave it and forget it, it will start beeping in a few minutes, so nice.
I don't want a bright object on me when hunting in parks and such. I like to be low key. Also, the beep attracts people, nice that you can go vibrate only with the Minelab.
Just put a few strips of bright tape on the Garrett - for the most part, problem solved. I haven't seen more than 1 painted Garrett, perhaps some do it, but "most are painted" I think is false. I've seen many Garrets in videos and think one was painted.

Albert

Looks Minelab gray in the pictures to me, with other colors also. I don't think the color is such a big deal and as someone else said I don't want a bright "kid magnet" on me either. If losing it is such a worry make a long lanyard and tie around it, drag it a couple of times and you will remember to pick it up.

You live in Denmark? I'm surprised. If not, how do you know how many paint their Garrett here?

I live in Germany. Did you read my post? Here I'll quote me "I've seen many Garrets in videos and think one was painted."
Now, if I'm wrong then so be it, I'm just stated what I have observed in youtube videos, which I thought would be reflective of the overall user base.

I'll compromise with you, why not offer a black one as well as a fluorescent/colored one? ;)

I will just start guessing here. 249 Dollars. lol. Okay, its a high guess.

Nice review here:

That seemed to be an honest comparison. I'm surprised he didn't get much more depth with the Minelab in his tests, though. I personally think Minelab needs to go back to the drawing board and work on 1) waterproofing, 2) better vibration 3) better depth on max, 3) something like a scraper along the edge and 4) a red power light near the power button so it's easier to tell when the pin pointer is on.

Excellent review I think it is dead on. I like my 25 but it is only marginally better and I think it could have been much better with some improvements. In the end you will not go wrong with either one.

Matt

Additional depth is not really a great thing. The pistol probe is much deeper than either of these pinpointers, but I find myself turning the sensitivity down some to use it. When it's set to pick up a quarter at 4 inches it becomes hard to tell where your target is because it leaves you with a 4 inch sphere of possibilities as to where the target is located.

denyyourself - I love having extra depth, as it really helps in 2 situations I can think of: 1 - initially, to see if the coin is less than 3" or so deep (then no larger plug, just pop it out) and 2: I search mostly for deeper coins, once you get down 6" or so, it's nice to have that extra depth to direct you and protect the coin. True it can be harder when the depth is too much, I do see your point.

Here is part II of the Minelab Pro-Find video from Pondguru. (There are no ads in this one, I contacted him and he removed them!). The Pro-Find in the ground didn't do well (looked much less than in the air), quite noticeable in the video. I am interested to know if others are working similarly.

I still like my detector pro pocket uni probe,I clip it on my pocket and keep the probe in my apron and it will detect a coin at 6 inches and detune itself as you get closer great pin pointer. And i like taking off my headphones to hear it especially when it's hot gives my ears a break.
