News Story, Product Page, Brochure and a TreasureTalk blog post by Nenad Lonic..........

Contact your Minelab dealer for pricing and availability.

The Minelab video looks good. I will have to get one of those to check out. From the video, I think it work better than the other brand that I have now.........Thanks for the update......HH

It looks nice. Interesting how the sensitivity is incremental and not just on or off.

Randy - When you turn it off and then back on again, does it reset the sensitivity or does it go back to how you last had it set?

Could you take some measurements regarding how far away it will detect a dime/quarter in standard vs sensitive (strong) mode?

Thanks,
Albert

Was just on Kellyco and they do not have it .:twodetecting:

If Kellyco does not have it no reason to check anywhere else for a while. If anyone is going to have them Kellyco will. So the question on Price and availability will have to wait.
If anyone gets wind of someone having them or at least an availability date let us know.

Here is some info from the link in Digger's initial post. This is from the Minlab site the link takes you too. There is also a 4 minute video demonstration of the pinpointer there as well.

"The PRO-FIND 25 will be available for sale from your local dealer from July 30th, 2012."

This is what I measured on the Pro-Pointer, curious how the Minelab stacks up against it.

Second number is with a coin on the shaft to get the extra depth:
.01***1.50"***2-25"
.05***1.75"***3"
.10***1.25"***2-5"
.25***1.50"***3"

Albert, when you turn it back on, it resumes the same Sensitivity setting you had when it was shut off. I measured three coins...... silver dollar, quarter and dime. Max. Sensitivity hit the silver dollar at 3 - inches, quarter at 2.25 - inches and the dime at 1.75 - inches. These were all strong signals, not irratic. Minimal Sensitivity detects coins about 3/8 inch away from the probe. I've found the "depth" in the ground exceeds air testing measurements. As you said, the adjustible sensitivity is great! This allows us to use it as a probe, or as a pinpointer!

Randy, thanks so much for doing that! That is great that it remembers the last sensitivity setting. At max sensitivity it appears to fall about in between the Garrett's at default and "boost". But that is fine - I hate sliding the coin up the Garrett to get that extra depth (which is a bit excessive except to just check the ground initially). In the ground it will go deeper, I know the Garret is like that too. Really nice feature - sensitivity. I'm sold - Thx!

One more question - Can you try seeing if the Minelab will also go even deeper if you slide a coin up the shaft just to the point where it beeps and then back off (like on the Garrett)? Just curious.

Thx,
Albert

Yes, it does increase the "depth" when having a coin along side the grip, above the probe section. I also noticed you can "detune" it by having a coin too close to the probe (in your hand) when you turn it on, just like the other brand. For those of you who wear rings on the hand you hold the probe..... be careful to not "detune" it when turning it on...... regardless of the brand.

Here is why I like it.....Although I always use headphones (and can't hear the speaker well on my other pinpointers), having the ability to shut it off prolongs the life of the battery AND doesn't make me a "musical attraction" for kids at the park. The adjustible Sensitivity allows me to crank it up for use as a Probe, or dial it down for precision pinpointing. Probes are great for working in areas with minimal trash. But Pinpointing is especially useful in finding coins in the holes with tiny bits of iron along the edges. And I also think the "intermittent tone" of the automatic shut off is a great idea. I've been guilty of laying my probe down while digging, and leaving it there when I walked away. If it would have beeped after a few minutes, I may have been able to find it much easier than wandering around the corn field for over an hour. I consider the "shut off feature" as having the best of both worlds.... if I forget to turn it off when I put it in the hoster, I'll hear the beeps and simply shut it off. If I happen to leave it laying beside a hole in the middle of a corn field (again), I have a better chance of finding it if it sends out signals for a few minutes. JMHO HH Randy

I would have sent you a message, but you've not been a member of Findmall to have that priviledge. So instead, here it is.....

$169.00

Looks like that's the suggested retail price. I imagine it will be closer to the price of the propointer when on the market. I guess manufacturers prefer to make advances in small steps rather than quantum leaps and see the competion being forced into a technological quantum leap themselves.

I have a ProFind...

How about this for the next generation?:

a keychain fob with a locator button that makes it beep and flash in case it's lost--just like trying to find your car in a parking lot by pressing the button on the keyless remote.
