Mid February BONUS hunt.:clapping: Got two 11" DEEP silver dimes.:super:

Thanks buddy. If you ever get this way...let me know and maybe we can pop another deepie or 2 out.

It's just like any other park around here. Somedays you don't even get a wheatie...and other days somethin' pops out.

LEFT ANY CHIPS IN THE BAG.

Usually finding a leftover potato chip in your bag is as rare as finding a seated dime:bouncy: :clapping:

Thanks buddy. Yes Herky actually does a little diggin':super:

He does a little runnin'...a little diggin...then he usually runs circles around the Yeti and I.....then charges at us full speed...only to peel off at the last second before he hits us:crylol:

That's how I know you're an old pro, Bryce...

Because you curse the wheaties!

I still get a kick out of finding them, so I must still have a lot of newbie in me.

If I ever start digging 11" silver maybe I'll be disappointed by the wheat too.:detecting:

especially when you struggle down to a deep target whether through frozen ground or tree roots.
I haven't found a coin from the 1800's now for 2 years. Partly because my detecting time has been limited and partly because of not taking my time. That having been said when I get a really nice good signal and it turns out to be a Merc I just keep asking myself when is this dry spell going to be broken. I thought I had one the other day but it turned out to be a 1901 Indian. So close.
I wish every coin I dig is from the 1800's even if it's not silver but I'll take those old Wheat's if for no other reason than to keep my skills honed.

I like finding wheaties too...just not as much as finding silver:biggrin:

I still consider myself a newbie too because I'm just as happy to see a 1964 Roosey pop out of the hole...as I am a seated coin.

Seriously...I still get the same little kid smile on my face.

Thanks for responding friend.

I hope the ground remains slightly penetrable under the snow insulation. I wouldn't mind sneaking another hunt in before long.

WTG Bryce I wana do that, Mic

Bryce -- great hunt, great write-up, as usual.

Question (can't remember from your coils review post)...someone here recently posted that their 10x12 SEF is more "stable," and can be run at higher senstivity than their Pro coil. I know you usually hunt at 26 manual, but would you think, if comparing the two, you could run the 10x12 a little hotter than you could the Pro coil, with respect to "stability" and iron falsing? I think you said you feel the 10x12 is "better in the iron," and "less falsy," which probaby would equate to what I'm asking, about possibly being able to run higher sensitivity with it, and not have the falsing get out of control? Just guessing...

Steve

gotta' be at work in 8 minutes...so I need to make this quick and to the point:thumbup:

The 10 x 12 SEF coil is more stable and gives me more of a "don't dig" signal over iron than the pro coil....HANDS DOWN....regardless of where the sensitivity is set at.

As for the sensitivity...yes I can run the SEF hotter and get more reliable signals whereas the pro coil seems to give me a few more "sweet" signals that...well....AREN'T "sweet" when I dig them.:bouncy:

I absolutely love the pro coil in cleaner ground because it is deep and very sensitive to thin, worn, old silver...but if I'm in iron my choice is the 10 x 12 SEF coil....period.

This is my honest opinion and I have come to this point from honest in field experience. I have heard that some "dust" we disposed of:bouncy: on findmall has settled on another forum and is stating my posts are only made to sell coils. Please consider the source...lol. I dont get one cent from any sponsor or coil maker....so I couldnt care less what coil people buy or dont buy....I just use what works for me. My time is too valuable for me to waste it using coils that dont produce for me.

Nice hunt bryce. Imagine the older stuff (probablly still there) that must have been at 5-10 inches before the sand was dumped!
I haven't been out since Superbowl Sunday. Looks like this weekend will be the same. Getting ITCHY!!
Bruce

Nice digs Bryce!! you've sealed the deal for me and the 10x12 sef coil, and thanks for all the advice, and your deep park silver settings lts paid off quit nice!!:beers:

David

Thanks for your thoughts and insight, Bryce. Makes me really want to think about the 10x12...like you say, I like the Pro coil alot, but sometimes it gives a "sweet" sound on some "sour" targets! :) If the 10x12 helps with that, it's worth it...

Steve
