Hey guys I'm hunting down in the RGV (Rio Grande Valley) and not finding much. I never do when I'm down here. Anyway, does anyone have VDI for Mexican coins? Packing and keeping my head low.

How long you going to be down there?
I have some mexican coins but it will be tomorrow sometime before i can check them.

A good while.

The 1968 25 pesos is .720% silver and rings up a 91 on the 10x12 sef.....

I used to have a bunch of coins from Mexico and they were almost all clad. You got to dig all the repatable signals:clapping:

Here are some numbers that i got with the few Mexican coins that i have. I know somewhere between little and nothing about Mexican coins so i will list tham as shown on the coin.
Taken in stock coin with a 4x6 coil.
All plus numbers except the last one which really throws be for a loop.Maybe someone can clear it up.
CT=centavos
1928 2-ct = 68
1934 5-ct = 54
1946 10-ct = 25
1950 5-ct = 17
1950 25-ct = 39
1951 50-ct = 51
1964 Veinticinco-ct = 22

1892 UN-ct = 82-83
1926 5-ct = 74
1955 20-ct = 83
1956 Cincuenta -ct = 78
1959 Diez - ct = 75

Now for this one.
1914 5-CT
Here are five numbers that i recorded. it give others between these but i only recorder these 5.
-12 , -6 , +25 , +50 , +76
On the polar plot it made oblong circles.

I decide to see what my CTX would read it at and in fe/co it gave 11-30 to 33 and a bounce to 12 every now and then.

Really weird.

1934 5

Thanks a bunch for your time. As stated they are all over the scale. I appreciate the effort.

I looked up the 1914 M 5-ct
Says it is a rare coin and list as brass but under composition is says nickle so i dont know.
Says they ar rare.
as info

Dug a large amount of modern Mexican pesos in Cancun last year with a Coinmaster Pro. Had to clear the discriminator as they ring up as iron. The 10 peso rings positive but at the moment I can't recall the VDI except to say its a "dig" signal. Not many centavos to be found and I don't recall offhand where they hit. Good thing you are looking for older Mexican coins. The composition of any of the coins is easy to look up in one of the Krause publications or similar for world coins. Though the Internet is prob as good.

I live in AZ and found my first peso yesterday.

Believe it or not, but it didn't ring up on my VX3. It was like a ghost.

I got a hit of something else nearby and found it under the grass on the topsoil.

I double checked it on my coil and not even a blurp. It was a $5 1997 peso. I was shocked it didn't give me a signal. Nor will it register on my MXT.

If it won't register on your coil your discrimination is set too high. Set your MXT to just reject a surface nail. It's a clad coin, I don't know its makeup.

It won't register PERIOD. Weirdest thing. My disc was off. Feels like a light cheap aluminum...like a fake token or something....

If it is metal, it will register somewhere.

I'll post it later but a 1887 50 centavos reads 83-84 with 7.5 as dom frequency. I thought it was a bottle cap but dug it anyway.

If you are talking about modern, post devaluation currency ie 1993 and later I have just collected about 4000 pesos in the last 2 months during my stay here in Mexico all with an F75 but it's all relative .Next year I will bring my V3i .Peso coins 1,2,5 are all mostly composed of steel and come in around 5-12 with an audible click ,not much more than that .10 pesos give a good signal at 61.
Centavo coins ,value below 1 peso ,are all totally steel, and hardly register at all audibly ,but around 5 visually.

Thanks guys I amhome now. I picked up a $1 worth of change when I visited Mexico for the day. They all read ferrous. Man I home we don't see that here.
