Friends,
I am still an MD wannabe, but I have been studying all the info I can find on the web for a while now. From what I can determine, I suspect that the Garrett AT PRO is possibly the first of a new generation of very good, very well priced equipment.
Many years ago, I was involved with motorcycles. Dirt bike designs were somewhat stagnated. Most improvements were very small changes to existing machines. When Yamaha came out with the DT1, the dirt bike world was revolutionized in about a year. The same was true for fuel injection and electronic ignition on cars.
From the many posts I have read about the AT PRO, I get the feeling that a lot of old time users see a lot of good things in this new machine. As a newbie, (ignoramus), when I compare the specs, of the AT PRO to other machines that vie for my money, it seems to me that the many features of the machine and the fact that I can start out in "training wheel mode" and then move up to "PRO" mode, will make it a very good entry machine. I am particularly intrigued by the ability to use it in the surf.
I suspect that the folks at Garrett are going to sell a LOT of detectors.
I wonder what else they have on the horizon for us?
I wonder what features will be added in the next few years?
Possibly a GPS chip? A USB port for memory to store your finds @ location? A database to store target profiles?
What do you think?
Thanks,
John Morton
