Metal Detecting Washington State

The following website will show the rules and WA state parks open to metal detecting. You can print out the form (not both pages), fill it in each time you visit, and put it in one of the pay boxes. Also, some of the park rangers like to be notified when you're detecting so they can answer the questioning public that is using the park. I'm on the Kitsap Peninsula, and found most of the Rangers to be OK w/ detecting.

Hey Clay, There are 2 Great Clubs in the Portland area #1 is American Heritage Research and Preservation Society Addy is www.ahrps.org Monte Berry is in this one, and Oregon Treasure Trail Society Addy is www. oretts.org Both clubs have a Great group of people in them. HH Don W :detecting:

In doing some research about where old ghost towns and old mines to spend time MDing I ran across (http://www.legendsofamerica.com) they show mining areas and ghost towns in Washington, the oldest are in the northeast part of Washington.
Had a thought about taking my RV up and spending a week playing (getting Rich with gold) I don't know how hard most of these areas have been hit, but it would make for some good exercise.
Also ran across: http://www.ghosttownsusa.com/index.htm which list old places to check out.
I may never make it home again.

new here, I'm in Kelso to, have done a little detecting and would like to do more
i'm 52 retired don't drink but i do smoke and don't have a dirty mouth
if this rain ever quits would be great

Larry, try the detector classifieds here at Fmall. You can get some smokin deals on good clean machines. Deal with long time members with good reputations and you should do fine.

Try around Vancouver Lake at the park, also there is a park about 2 miles down the Columbia that has a good beach. It may or may not be good at Delta Park in Portland. When at the beach in Or or WA remember that you will encounter mineralization or what is referred to as black sand. Read up about that on forums like this or on the net.

There is a lot of black sand on any of the Columbia river beaches and lots of pyrite. Makes the beaches look covered in fools gold. My neighbor and I hit up government island with my boat and found tons of clad and junk. I have been to Frenchmans bar or beach and vanc lake. Usually just find clad they have been worked over I belive. Found a sac dollar at vanc lake park.

Hey TeryCheryl, I would be happy to dig a plug with you.
Send me a message on this site and we can compare notes.

I have the Ace 250 but no extra coils and also have a pointer have had them for about a year
have walked through some of the parks around here and willow grove beach alittle but haven't
found much
was thinking about getting the Ace 350 and adding the gold coil to it
thanks for the reply Terry

Willow grove sucks....Found one siver dime there a few years ago and other that that it is the place where all beer cans and nails go to die.
Cool that you swing a 250 too. Would be nice to compare thoughts with someone else that uses one. I could let you use the sniper coil just to give you a feel for it and the big accelerator coiil is a cool one to try out also. Realy covers a lot of ground quickly.

there are a few spots out side of town i would like to try
the parks don't give much but rings and ear rings do get lost there from time to time
we should do coffee at dennys Gordygroover and meet and exchange some stories

You are on...I am off until Thursday morning.
I will bring my box of finds and I can bore you to death with a story about every pulltab I have ever found.
Feel free to give me a call 560 2720 and we can get caffeinated,
Cleaning the garage tommorow so I would love a coffee break.
