OH Oh I almost left this post when I seen the shovels as it is a touchy subject for me, but glad I didn't as most of this is interesting and people need to see.
The Shovels is something are made for a purpose, that is field hunting and construction site where it don't make a difference as it is getting replaced or reworked. I have 2 of the Sampson myself and used them in farm fields and a old fairgrounds that was being tore up to build a school. I see too many videos where I see these being used in parks, schools and ballfields which to me anyone that sees you will give bad feedback to detecting. Plus People will say it dig a neater plug, but see some that dig them big and leave much of the dirt around the plug and not into it. Some do a real nice job too and really don't have a problem with them. What most should do is pinpoint better and know your machine you are using well. I notice many people hear the beep and start digging instead of good pinpointing the target to see where it is at, dig a small plug and use a good pin pointer to find the target without digging a lot of more dirt and widening the plug more.
On Pin pointer I really agree the Uniprobe is a great headphones with a pin pointer, I have 2 of them myself and sold many to others and we all love them, The first one which is a good 15 years old and ordered in a new one when I had to send mine in for repair of the cable for the probe. Then the new one I believe developed a problem with the cable for the probe also as it kept giving a signal when no target, disconnect the probe and it was just fine, so I know it has to be in the cable. I should have sent them both in, but that is when I heard there was a new owner of detector pro. They both are sitting on my shelf right now and plan on sending them in for repair when I find where to send them to. I had to replace my pads on the headphones which was easy to do and get them When Gary Storm storm ran Detector pro. The headphone part of the Uniprobe was very good and the cords from the headphones to the detector were replaceable in the field so I carried a extra cable with me in my detector bag just in case, just hated to ruin a good day out detecting.
My trash treasure bag is like the one you use other mine come from Sun-ray as it was really well built and had a slot for the Lesche and log narrow screwdriver to plucking my surface targets , also had 2 small pouches for my coin finds and my keeper and a large trash bag that was big enough to carry me bottle of water. I had too much at time in it that my belt it was on almost around my knees and had to pull it back up.
Now I cant get out that much as like you have to serous knee problem as I have a hard time getting down to dig and my back is bad and cant bend over like I used to and getting back up is real hard and when I do it is hard and sometime I dont balance too good and fall down, so sometimes I would love to use my Sampson shovel so I don't have bend over. Maybe if I get some time I would like to build a walker out of that heavy white water pipes made out of that plastic pipe as it would be strong enough so I can use it to get back up once I get down, made a 4 leg cane a few years ago, but it helped, but wasn't stable enough for me.
Well I am 77 years old, had a triple bypass 13 years ago and both my knees replace at one time about 7 years ago and have abused my body when younger when detecting.
I love reading all the post of the Findmall as it can get me though the days
Thanks for posting your info and what you use as it will help us all.
