Me and the " ELECTED OFFICIAL" a bit long ...........

Went to a local park that had a carnival the 3rd 4th 5th of july
Note that i cked with the local police the nite before and got the OK

found 87 cents in the the tot lots and THEN................here comes he
big bad ELECTED OFFICIAL... the following is a summary of our conversation
more or less
ME will hencforth be ME beloved Oldranger
EO will be the ELECTED OFFICIAL

EO ..what ae you doing?
ME looking for coins and trinkets .
EO you cant do that.......
ME the Police told me last nite I could
EO the police dont know the law...
ME. the POLICE DONT KNOW THE LAW??
EO Im an ELECTED OFFICAL........

By now i knew this was gonna go nowhere so i thought t
id have some fun...

ME..Thats ok you dont have to apologise ..

EO who are you?
ME who wants to know?
EO I do ..
ME well who are YOU?
EO i told you im an ELECTED OFFICAL..
ME And i told you thats Ok i wont hold it against you ..
EO.. you have to leave..
ME what ordinacne did i violate SIR.. or can i call you elected??
EO the one that says no holes..
Me which one is that ?

ME ??????? well if you dont know what ordinance are you sure there IS one??
EO.. yes Im sure ...i dont pay my workers $20 an hr to fill holes you dug .

This happens far too often. What most elected officials who serve (did you get that word?) us fail to realize is that they do in fact serve us. I had the exact same conversation, with my own public servant who also would not identify himself. I ended up spread eagle on the hood of a police car, searched, questioned. When my pursuit of justice was done I had written invitations from the town supervisor and the chief of police to return and detect anytime I want. My friend the public servant ended up chastised by his boss and he was lucky we had a mutual friend who convinced me to let the whole matter drop. He never did "man up" and apologize. The reason is simple. He isn't a man.

Parks are for our enjoyment. I defy anybody to find evidence that I have dug any hole anywhere I've detected. I suspect your technique is equally kind to the ground.

Let us know what you do. I'd find his name and title and let his supervisor know just how unprofessional he was with you at a minimum. A letter to the editor seems in order as well. Maybe closer to election day. Good luck with it. (BTW, my incident happened on 9/11/08 right after I had attended a Memorial Service remembering the fallen, and celebrating Liberty. Liberty indeed!)

PS I carry a tiny little voice recorder in my truck now. I have not used it, but next time this happens to me I'm going to excuse myself, go and get it, tell the person that I'm recording what he says and that he should fee free to continue acting like a Jackass.

Im usually pretty easy going but i dont
do well dealing with STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!
since i dont live in that town ( or county)
i doubt talking to his super would do much good..
We all know VOTES are the only thing that
matters these days ...sad but true ..

The first thing elected officials forget when they are elected is they are public servants and their job is to take care of the public, not aggravate them.
A character in a novel by Louis L'Amour named Flint said it very well to a man with some questional authority: "You're just a pompous little man with a bellyful of self-importance, now get the hell out of here and let me sleep"
Bet that would have got his goat.
