Maybe upgrading to a Vx3

[attachment 264431 usa.jpg] No one can say it will increase your finds substantially. The MXT is a very capable detector, I used to own one. It all depends on you and how well you master the VX3. I know guys who own the best golf clubs and they still can't play. There are too many factors to consider. JMHO

It's more programmable, for sure! IF... big IF... you learn the detector and take some time setting it up for where you hunt, you will easliy dig 10-13". I am running Magic's program. slow sweep speed and DEEP! I am in Pittsburgh, PA... lot of iron but no mineral problem. Here's a pic at an old park from the late 1800's. Unfortunately, the 'filled' it and smoothed it over, so anything old is 8"+. I hunt with a few friends. One has a Tesoro, another an F5, and another White's die-hard who has a CoinmasterGT and M6, and there is NO WAY they can hit the depths I do. They pick up some shallower clad, but NO WAY they can get the hits I do and dig he plugs I do. My TDI is off a little from the depth, but my V3i hits it nice! The pic is a 10" target at 10", and I hit them deeper too.

When running the stock programs, I seriously thought that my Etrac would SMOKE the V3i. After making that program, the V3i is a BEAST!

I am not sure if the V3i would be better for you, but I'd put my Etrac up against a MXT Pro. I hunted with a local guy in Indiana, PA about 4-5 times and he had an MXT Pro. I not only hit more silver, but the Indians and hit a sweet gold ring when we went out. I hammered my Etrac for 2 years, and tweeked Andy Sabich's programs, and heard the tones in my sleep from detecting 6 days a week, 4-8 hours a day. I have had my V3i for about 2 months now and gimme another few months and I'll SMOKE my Etrac, with confidence. I am not brand loyal at all... I am 'treasure loyal'. The V3i is pretty darn impressive! For two years I avoided White's because of the 'clunky box under the arm cuff'. I will admit I was wrong on that.

I am in the same boat, is going from a dfx to a vx3 an upward move, or wait to jump into the V3i when the right deal comes around. I found a pre-owned vx3 for a trade of a guitar I have for a long time unused. The guitar has appreciated a good amount in the last 12 years..... although I know it is a good guitar, will I enjoy the Vx3 more than the dfx? I have most of the coils and the bigfoot too, will that work on this?

Thank you,

Eric

I too used a MXT (s) for a couple of years on and off and definitely think the VX3 is a fine upgrade for those who enjoy a more programable detector. The MXT is a great machine in its own right, but like others have said, it's all in how comfortable you are with your detector. Good luck with your new detector.

Will you increase your coin count substantially? Maybe. It's never the machine, it's the operator. If there was a machine that would guarantee finding more good stuff we would all have one. If you take the time to thoroughly learn the VX3 and what it's telling you, you will do well. It's a very capable machine.
