Matrix M6 First Impressions

The nice thing about the MXT is to CRANK the sensitivity, and turn back the threshold to alleviate the noise-you still get the depth.

Have you noticed any depth increase running full accept of all iron?

Hi vlad,

No, I have not. But can't say I have worried the issue either.

What I do notice with full accept is that I can read the ground/trash mix better and that there is less masking of good targets by bad. Which in a way is better depth cause a target not missed is a deeper target!

Notching has its issues, for sure. What people do not seem to get is I know about and accept those issues for what notching can achieve for me.

To make it as simple as possible, consider this example. Get a CZ-70. Set all segments except foil to reject. Now go dig anything that beeps. Dig lots of foil and other aluminum. And gold that all the other people who have foil rejected or have heard and ignored have passed over.

Depth is not my issue. Picking what I want to dig and ignoring the rest is my issue. If notching needs to be improved, and it does, then the engineers need to get at it.

If I want to dig foil range only I simply do not need or want to listen to all that other racket. If I'm the only guy that feels that way, so be it. People need to realize their way is not the only way. I've got the finds to prove it.

... the M6 platform could do as well, albeit it may never come as close to "not there" as one of the units from Arizona.

I like the way you think Steve. I WANT all the features on a detector and I will be the one to decide which I use.

Notching? You bet. Especially for the guy who wants to actually hunt ONLY jewelry. That concept may be the biggest stopping point for people, and could be a reason in part for the responses you get. It is hard to say something lucid when choking on the idea of leaving money behind.

But it makes a lot of sense.

One decent piece of jewelry can literally pay for a detector and can certainly do more for your value count than a bag full of clad.
I've always been a fan of the concept, although it can get kinda boring in between good finds! So I prefer to notch in dimes with quarters, to give me something to do.

Thanks for the impartial insights.
