There’s such a laundry list of costs that come to mind, and I know I don’t know all of them! You are right about the younger generation, I see it every day and wonder how the heck they can afford what they have, let alone some of the houses I see them buying. It’s got to be credit I guess. Grumpy old bast…ER, GUYS like me don’t want to live that way and see more of a one to one type of spending! That dang manticore would cost about a weeks work during this slow time of year, already out of the question on timing! But I don’t hold the price against Minelab-I’ve charged people some high prices just because what they wanted me to do had a high ‘hassle factor’. They decided it was worth it. Now we just have to decide if the manticore is worth it to us! I think the best course of action money-wise is to wait for those early buyers to start unloading them in about 3-6 months, lol…
Yep. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure i spent some money foolishly In my younger days lol. But i also understood how hard it was to earn that money unlike the internet generation. Doing construction work for $5 an hour or less.
Not a typo $5 not $50 an hour.
A week of working in the hot sun for a take home pay of $180 for the week.
And that was only 35-40 years ago when most of these people were still kids not like 100 years ago or anything.
When i was a kid bought a burger at MD ‘s for .39 now the same exact store, same equipment to make the burger sells a big mac for $4.
You can buy 2 burgers which is about equivalent to a big mac minus the little bit of sauce and lettuce for $2. A justifiable 100% increase in price over the years.
Or pay $2 more to get that “BigMac” with a little sauce( thousand island dressing)and lettuce added with a 400% increase.
Its all marketing to make more money somehow.
Same for detectors. For example you can buy 2 legends for same price as a Nox. Or pay double for some sauce and lettuce and the “big mac” name lol.
They have marketing down to literally a science and it works.
Ask anyone up at night watching infomercials who swear their 50 Invicta watches are great. They say Rolex and Timex tell the same time.
I don’t know never been able to afford a Rolex lol. Im sure the rent and parts for the manufacturer costs 5000% more.
“R&D” is a phrase good long term for things like the aerospace and pharmaceutical industries but for things like appliances and metal detectors I think we pretty much reached a ceiling.
Maybe gain a half inch, inch here or there, unmask a thing or two here and there.
Have we reached a point where we suddenly gained 4”-6” and unmasked hoards of of targets never seen before.
Thats like adding a whole beef patty.
Did we find the beef? I guess time will tell.
