Ya know it is very possible that the Deus just isn't for you. It sounds like you are very good with the Etrac. The Etrac is truly a Great machine but so is the Deus in the right hands.
There are not many people who can easily adjust from one machine to another.
I do hope that you manage to make it work and satisfy yourself with it like some of the other posters on this forum are so pleased.
Good luck with all your hunts no matter what machine you are using!!

I picked up the Deus because of it's capabilities as well silverseekr and it seemed awfully complicated at first to me also but like the etrac , once you run through the menu and the settiings a few times it really simplifies itself. Of course the effect of those changes are only seen with experimentation which takes some time that I haven't invested yet--on all that I can agree with.
To the contrary , I don't "feel the need to bash others for their OPINIONS" , if anything , this thread displays just the opposite.
"If you don't have something good to say, go away"--that's the BS--- all a matter of perspective I suppose. I'll remember that in the future but won't pay any attention to it.
I saw none of the separation capabilities today in a trashy park--quite the opposite , which led to a hunt truncated by frustration and some bench testing which revealed some interesting results.
I continued to wonder how others have commented(like yourself) on how those tones were sounding but I was experiencing nothing like that , and that's exactly how I hunt with the etrac. Well , in the garage on a bench , the sound from the remote sounds better than the sound from the WS5 phones I have even though it's a puny little thing and an arm length from the ears. While there are tones in the phones they're sratchy and hazy sounding-lacking distinction. So I stuck in an adaptor which allowed me to plug in the GG Ultimates which I usually hunt with and the change in clarity was remarkable.
When the threat of thunderstorms pass we will see if it's a new game or not.
BTW: if different phones improve the tones , that's great , but I'll still feel the arm cuff sucks!!!!
