luck versus skill - what REALLY happens?

hi bluewhisper. i think it's a combination of all the factors, and maybe some others as well [ i didn't even mention the sweat equity factor! ] i've recieved so many good answers, and thoughtful insight on what really happens. i feel some of the greatest detecting people and minds in the world are on this forum, which, when given a chance to air their views can really open up a book of knowledge for our newer or less experienced people. i've learned a lot on this forum too, and appreciate it. i wish you good luck with your new etrac, and don't be discouraged over a bad day or two. there's still plenty out there for everybody. thanks, and hh!

Absolutely Wonderful post GG , And all awesome answers ! :clapping:
I do my research , and am still rewarded at times with a fantastic site, fewer
now , but they are there. Such a thrill to dig a site where no modern trash is found.
I stick with my favorite detector , learn it well , In the past I was caught up with buying
the newest models ,which did not make me a very happy or sucessful hunter. I enjoy
detecting for the peace it brings me and the awesome thrill of finding coins and relics
lost long ago. I would have to say that skill and luck both play a factor at times . I have
been lucky to be allowed to enjoy this hobby and taught by my parents the skills and patience
to work and re work a site . Thanks Ghost
