allright guys, you've done your research and field tests aplenty, my units are the older tesoros. big box eldorado and amigoII. my guru warned me on the regular batteries, some brands discharge a little different. CAN I USE THE RECHARGABLES SAFELY IN MY OLDER UNITS? batts aint cheap. I found some off brand rechargeables for my little work camera, and old sony cybershot 4.1 megapixel owned by fred flintstone, which eats them up quickly. they did not last and wont hold a charge anymore. it was screwing up my camera. dont want to damage my unit. GaryF terry tabman barberbill... i trust you guys based on what i read and the posts you make. shoud I or not go to recharge in the older units?

Rechargeable batteries work great in my Tesoro detectors. I just can't imagine using regular batteries ever again in my detectors.

Call Tesoro Monday and ask their opinion. Tesoro's number is 928-771-2646.

Let us know what they say.:)

Don't use batteries past 14-15 hours. I recently started using rechargable Nickel-Zinc AA batteries and could not be more pleased!

I get an easy 15-hours between charges!

I've been doing some additional reading. It seems that rechargeable AA batteries with 1.6 volts may work better in your detector than the 1.3 volt rechargeable batteries, because the lessor volts really add up on 4 to 8 batteries.

I don't currently own any detector that uses AA batteries

I'm on target with the 9 volt batteries that I use in my Tesoro detectors, because I use the 9.6 volt rechargeable batteries.

I've hunted all day long on freshly charged batteries and haven't run out juice.

If you burn up QUALITY brand name alkalines quickly, then rechargeables may be the way to go. However, if you get a goodly amount of use from the alkalines then take time to figure out a ball park figure for what the cost difference is and go from there. JMHO

Hi Guys if you have not heard of HYBRID BATTERIES let me inform you about them, if your are buying on ebay you should search for PRECHARGED BATTERIES I found them by accident and could not be more pleased with the performance and they are no dearer than alkaline . they come as I said precharged and hold that charge for about 12 months.when searching type in pre-charged batteries and you should get a number of brands, the most popular is SANYO ENELOOP which I now run in my MINELAB EXPLORER and I am sure that I can get more than 8 hours use out of one charge, all sizes are NOT AVAILABLE at this time but AA are. Hope this gives you more pleasure. If you are into photos you can shoot almost forever with these. Oneill

i been using those 9V battery's that tabman talked about that are rechargeable and are 9.6V they give me about 4 more beeps when i turn on the detector when battery's are fresh compared to a new Duracell or energizer throw away alkaline battery, my question is does that mean i am getting more power in to the ground?

they work great and am very happy with them VAPEX True 9.6V Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries 9V

While I remove my 9v batteries at 4 beeps in my Vaquero, I keep them for my Propointer, It makes good use of the remaining life.

DOLLAR STORE, carries what I have been using. those little 9v $1.00 a piece batteries... They hold just fine for a days use. :detecting::tesoro::super:

I noticed that too - on my Cortes I had low rechargables in it, and I air tested with them, then put in a fresh set and it was like night and day.
