Looney is invisible

Jennifer.

Can you say what this coin read on different detectors. You mentioned the terra 70...

I wonder why it doesnt read on an open screen. Are you sure it is a open screen.

The reliv mode on the E-trac has a discriminated part or did you remove that too.

No sorry, I don't have anything else to try it on (well I have a gpx-4500 but that's a different beast all together)... I mentioned a 70 because I was about to buy one of those till I found out that the E-Trac is the cats butt s far as customization. I'm a techie kind of person and considered it an investment so bought the best I could buy assuming it would be better than the 70 in all areas.. I'll play more tonight, perhaps I'm doing something wrong with the discrim, I didn't see any in relic mode. Perhaps I need to do a full reset of the machine as maybe it has an old setting in.

Thanks again all..... by the way, we now have a Canadian section over at minelab owners dot come... feel free to share your thoughts if you are in or love Canadians. :cheekkiss:

So my main concern upon testing the loonie toonie issue that other had mentioned was the fact that my unit only gave a null, and gave no crosshairs to allow me to undiscriminate the FE/CO coordinates... well after looking at the MLO TV video discussing the use of Quick Latch to do just this, I grabbed my detector and in preparation to try the Quick Latch method shown, did a full reset on my detector before hand.... I then tried both the loonie and the toonie again (before even going into the Quick Latch area) and KAAAABAAAAAAM loud and clear no matter what angle is shown.. I did have to turn the sensitivity way down due to metal near my couch but it appears there was an old buggy boo cobweb in the settings for my unit. I just purchased it (new) but it appears maybe someone made some sort of setting change when it was at the dealer and this reset put it back to stock... WOO HOOOOOOOOOO

Thank you all for your help on this... it was freaking me out, not even seeing it show up on a blank screen...ya gotta love microprocessors.

Glad to see that this problem was taken care of!

I was just playing around with a Looney I had from a visit to a casino at Niagra Falls and wanted to see what the readings would be.

I also tried the reset and it seems to work O-K now. Glad I saved all my patterns and settings.

Maybe Minelab wants to see if we are smart enough to figure things out for ourselves!

Jennifer, if you get the Excalibur, make sure you get the straight shaft. Makes a world of difference. I love mine.

I was wondering if you tried quick latch and as I read on I seen you tried it I customized a program with it and saved it,well glad to see you solved the problem good luck hunting Ron

There you go...

Im glad You got it sorted, even if you had to remove part of the discrimination it should be far enough away from nails to not bother You to much.

If it is very close to the area nails or bottlecaps read it maybe easier to mask them out, but you win in pulltab situations if its further away from where they hit.

Very glad it sorted out for you...

Thanks Steve, I'm glad to know it's not just me that the reset issue fixed... kinda weird... I'll have to round up all the canadian e-trac owners I know and tell them (but before doing so, go do all their previous haunts cus there's loonies and toonise in them there hills....hahah) kidding.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Excalibur...

I don't mind digging the occasional nail for the chance on a one or two dollar coin..<smile> I'm near a huge beach and hopefully nails will be rare in the sand.... Now I need to start a revolution to do away with our five dollar and ten dollar bills too, they'd look so much nicer in coin form. :twodetecting:
