looking for pinpointer

New member
Hey Y'all,
I'm looking to purchase a pinpointer with my budget being $50-$60 that I've saved up from all of the change I've found. Does anyone have any suggestings for a decent one at that price?

HP

I got a Tiny Tec pin pointer a while back and started carrying it around.

I tested it out when I first got it, and it works great.

Just one problem. I haven't used it sense.

Thanks to Tesoro and lots of practice I don't have a need for it.

I know where it is, Tesoro tells me that. But I got this thing in my back pocket.

The question is:

Why should I keep carrying this thing around?????

I think it may save more time if I just leave it at home?????

I think I'm going to carry a pencil and call it my pin pointer/marker.

Might as well diversify.

HH,

Here is a Tiny Tech next to a Technatics.

The Tiny Tec is much better and cheeper.

Tiny Tec came with three one dollar coins.

HH,

Hugh I also have the Tiny Tec and it does a great job. My only complaint would that the case is bulky and unergonomic , but it does manage to fit into my backpocket.

When I get some spare coin, I want to get the SunRay inline probe.

Interesting Tabdog,.. The Technatics in your pic is identical to my Bounty Hunter. One thing I thought was odd is the BH has no model number or anything on it or the box. It cost around $50. Seems to work ok (but I am a newb at this). I don't' like the battery cover since it tends to come off too easily and I was afraid I'd lose it so I put a plastic screw in one side to retain it. What do you like better about the Tiny Tech?

Hay Road Gang

Technatics and Bounty Hunter pin pointers are the same, just as Technatics and BH are the same.

Bounty Hunter has vibration and Tiny Tec doesn't. Although I could never feal the vibration or hear
the buzzer in the field.

Tiny Tec was $39.95 + $4.60 shipping. That included 3 one dollar US Mint coins which brings total
invest ment to $41.55. TT is cheeper.

Things Tiny Tec has that Bounty Hunter doesn't:
Light to indicate target response
Head light
Sensativity control
Auto shut-off when pointed up
Switch for optional for non- auto shut off
Batery door that doesn't fall of as easy and spill battery
Abitity to detect off the side as off the tip equally
A louder buzzer. Can hear with headphones on.
Higher sensativity

Look at the photo in my previous post. See the little bits next to the coins. They are a small
piece of gold. A single layer of aluminum foil, about 1/8" square and a small silver circle.

The Tiny Tec will easily pick-up all three.

The Bounty Hunter only will pick up the small silver circle. Then you have to actually rub it
against the tip of the Bounty hunter to get a response. Not going to happen in the field.

That's what I like better about the Tiny Tec.

HH,

Thanks for all of the replies.....I have read the reviews for the bounty hunter pinpointer b4 and they we're good..The Tiny Tech sounds like the best buy....Now all I need is the website...

The Tiny Tec will definitely pick up TINY targets. , I've found some targets the size of bird shot in the hole with it (amazing that both the Coin$trike and the TT could pick these tiny objects up....unamazing that they were junk

I was at a tot lot by my house hunting one late afternoon, and was having fun finding clad in the bark around a large swing area. Once it got dark outside I continued to hunt and the single LED light on the TT was very helpful as a flashlight to see what I was doing when digging the targets. Not a spot light by any stretch of the imagination, but it was enough to get the job done. I opened mine, and there's not a lot of electronics inside. I believe if they redesigned the case to be more on the order of the BH/Technatics in Tabdogs picture, they'd have a hit on their hands for the price.

Well, you aint out much money.

I would like to get a high dollar one some day.

But until I get it honed down, I'm not sure which will serve me best.

I also don't have the $$$$.

But with a Tiny Tec at least I have good performance that is easy on my pocket book.

For now, I can settle for that:)

HH,

I just got the Tinytec today. Shipping was really quick since there was a weekend and a holiday too. To say it isn't ergonomic is an understatement. It looks like a low budget operation too with photo copied manual and its crude design. Dirt could be an issue since it has a wide open slot where the sensitivity thumb wheel is and a grill at the end where the speaker is. I guess if more attention were spent on engineering an ergonomic and dirt proof housing it would cost much more though.

The unit works great! The sensitivity has a nice wide range where you can pick up a penny from about an inch or adjust to however close you prefer it. It picks up a tiny piece of foil that the bounty hunter wont begin to detect (like others have mentioned). It is very impressive in operation.

This was a good buy in my opinion. I can see the bounty hunter will be a backup to the Tinytec at best. I'm very pleased with the performance and the price. It came with 4 one dollar coins too. :)

Can't wait to get it dirty!

Got my pinpointer on the day of my big find.....But that was just the icing on the cake....I wasn't expecting it so soon, left early in the am, found this awesome belt plate, came home happy as could be, check my mail and there it was along with two presidential dollars....Now that's what I call instant rebate....It's been raining since it arrived and I haven't had a chance to try her out yet other than around the house.. I think I'm going to be very pleased with it....Yee Haw

So I finally got to use my new tiny tech yesterday and what a great job it did for me....I'm very pleased w/ it's performance....Thanks for everyone "pointing" me in the right direction..

Glad you like it.

Good price with good performance.

Not perfect, but it works good.

HH,

I see on the website that there is 4 different models, what one is in the pictures above??? Do all of the pinpointers come with a sensativity wheel on top like in the pic?
