Longest hunt in 2010 thus far.

I stopped at the stop sign at the end of my street for a long time this morning. Which way should I head? South or west? I heard the toot of a horn behind me and headed south. Four sites along that route. Decided to hit them all. It didn't work out. I got to site one and never left. The loot was good. Tons of cool digs. Half way through the hunt another detectorist showed up. He was friendly and chatty as was I. We gabbed for half an hour and feeling well rested I went back for more.

Here's the clad:

Here's the rest. Four wheats. War nickel. Yes! Two 1941 nickels. Five rings, two of them silver. Yes, yes!! Silver earring. Cross. Pins. Pendants. Buttons. A real interesting mix. There was other stuff that I didn't photograph. Locks. Keys. Large necklace. Toy pistol piece. Cool assortment I think.

First dig of the day was this cool ring that sure looked like gold until I cleaned it up a bit.

This ring is 925 and has some type of plant material set in it. It's pretty spiffy. This is the best photo I could manage.

Ah yes! What would a hunt be without a reminder of my friend the Russianbear? This ring suits her, I think. Marked 925. I'd think it's a moon stone. (Luna for you Russian speakers. ) It was smashed flat until I did a little repair work on it. Needs a good polishing now. Later, I'm too tired.

Thanks for looking. I am so far behind of my 2009 totals. It's hard competing with that madman! Last May I found 2952 total coins. This year halfway through I've found 619. Don't think I'll match that number ever again in one month.

Chris

Wow!! Nice finds!!! I have a feeling we're not going to have the same totals that we did last year either. We're moving this year to be closer to family! Wish I didn't have to give up all my hunting spots though:sadwalk: Oh well, just a new begining. HH!!

You'll find new ones soon enough. I'm sure you can sniff out productive sites by now. I am happy knowing 2009 will be my high water mark in detecting. I only have one goal for 2010 and if I don't hit it, oh well.

Chris

Wow lots of finds their Chris.
You must have tired knees !

What do you think?

Chris

Real answer. I certainly tried to get it all.

I can't imagine finding that much stuff in one day, but it would be a pleasant surprise. Most of the sites I am allowed to metal detect produce a few coins, mostly clad. You really pick some good sites, cwilk.

Good looking copper and silver vein you struck there!
War nickle is a bonus. might still be another silver coin hiding there.
Tut ring is fun too.
Dont think i've found that many quarters yet this year.
