Little coin garden testing with the etrac and 6x8 coil

great info. I really like that coil for my trashy hunts and on tear downs. Ive never been worried too much about missing coins as it seams to do a great job sniffin out the deep stuff for me.

thank you goes.

I also run manual at all times. I use sens at 17-24 depending on conditions with standard coil. I also use the fbs 800 at 20-26 manual only. I have seen the exact same things as g4e has seen in his test garden using the same settings. I was using the coin in the ground for 50 years as the garden though. The soil here in southern michigan is much like what g4e describes for his area.

I have hit coins at 8-9 inches with the 800 coil with good sound but poor numbers. I really don't feel like I am missing much with the 800 on.

Is it possible that when the Auto +3 sensitivity is higher, say 25, that manual does not do much for depth?

I personally cannot justify using manual. When my Auto +3 is at 25 or more it does very little for my depth.

Sure when I do get one that's 3/4 or more down the depth scale I will switch to manual and try to get a better reading but for me the best thing to boost the depth is jump from the Andy S. Pattern to a quick mask open screen.

That will give me a better reading.

My 13" Ultimate always runs a higher sensitivity than all the other coils I have ever had and I have owned alot of them.

Maybe I just got a very good one.
