legand tone

I don't own a legand. I once owned a kruzer. I liked it a lot, but Hated the tones. To digital. By listing to the legand sound off while watching on line the tone sounds closer to the nox. can any of you users comment on the tones first hand?

Your perception is correct. The Legend’s audio is much more pleasant but still very intelligent. My Anfibio’s audio language is harsher, but has more nuance and you have to listen more closely.

I'm not exactly sure what tone death(?) Is but that probably describes me. I could hear a touch tone phone number a 100 times and a minute later not be sure which one it was..
As far as detectors I've had a few or these.. The nokta relic's tones were great, the kruzer's we're fair, the original simplex's sucked you know what, the legend's are good. I really like the 3 and 4 tone minelabs the best though. Again I have no musical ability so take it for what it's worth.

Over a decade on the etrac and CTX ruined me when it comes to tones and the Legend sucks in comparison just like all the others I had. One of the reasons I dumped the Nox 800 shortly after I got it was the poor tones when I still had a functioning CTX to use. I had hopes the Manticore would reproduce the tones with all it's adjustments but the paltry finds remaining in my areas does not justify paying the freight to get one. Legend tones have some nuance to them , better that the F75 or the Deus and many of the other digital formats out there.

Like others I was spoiled with the Etrac tones. I like the the Equinox (5) tones and have got quite used to them. The Legend tones are very similar in 4 and 6 tone. I haven't got around to adjusting those tones yet but I feel I could make them sound the same. But again they will never sound like the Etrac. Tones were the reason I stayed away from the Deus l, I couldn't listen to that all day and the tones on the Simplex , they sound like strangled chickens. Pull the trigger Jimmy, I think you you will find it to be a very good machine. Good luck..

I thought I would like the tones on it, But to me they sound like a flute trying to play a tune. on the videos ive seen on the legand, sometimes the tones sound ok, other times the tones sound like the nox. Guess I'm hard to please. But the thing that keeps me from trading my nox for a Legand is the limited VDI. Why in the world didn't nokta have the 0 to 99 vdi. like minelab, I believe That, like all companys thank that everybody that buys a detector bought it to relic hunt. If that should be the case then the compressed vdi would be ok, not that I wouldn't like to do a little relic hunting, but my location, health, an age wont let me. anyway I could go on, an on. So H.H.

the nice thing about the Legend Tones is they can be adjusted to ones liking, by adjusting the pitches to the pitch you want them to be

Can the pitches be adjusted so the legand don't sound like a nox. I thought I wanted a nox until I bought one. Ive only used my nox four times. I know I wont ever get used to the fluty sound.

Strangled chickens 😂😂

The tone adjustment doesn't really seem to make that much of a difference in target tones to my ears , threshold tone does change things up a bit however. It's nothing like on the etrac/CTX where you could actually over modulate targets on the extreme adjustments. Certain threshold tone adjustments on those machines made certain targets(nickels in particular) very unique and distinct. I have not found a similar result with the Legend but , like the etrac/CTX , I also found absolutely no need for a 100 point VDI . If a target sounds wholesome the difference of a VDI of 38 vs 40 is not going to chase me away from digging it.

yes they can I have the pitches set so they sound nothing like my friends Nox

You are also able to adjust tone pitch on the Equinox 800 & 900 in 5 tone. I don't adjust the pitch, just the volume in the different bins. Bins 1 -3 & 4 are Vol. 1, 16, and 20. Bin 2 & 5 are set to 25. Default pitch in Bin2 is 6. At Vol. 25 this gives a very distinctive mid-tone alert. Bin 5 is the high tone that everybody likes to hear. Well almost everybody.

the mid tones, for my ears, is the worst. I bought the nox on a whim. I really never like minelabs that much. Ive had two exterra 705 Detectors. they were ok, and the tones were ok. If the tones on the nox were the same as the old exterras I could live with it. I guess Ill hunt with my xp orx. Even though many have said they or weak when hunting in aluminum trash.

I always hunt in full tones , no bins just a select few VDI numbers disced out. I feel that allows the full range of tones to develop a bit of a language. When I used the White's with 100 number scale it was too much , that 50 to 60 tones range is something my mind can deal with.

I use a penny, Nickel, Dime and quarter to set the pitches by, I set up a 6 tone program nickels come in at 24-26 so that bin is set at 13 on the pitch, pennies come in at 43 and dimes at 45-46 I set that bin at 21 on the pitch, Quarters ring up at 50-51 usually but I have dug a couple of Quarters that was bouncing 48-51 again most of the time at 50-51 so I set the pitch at 30, Eisenhower $1 coins ring up a solid 55 so they fall in the same bin as a quarter in my settings the way I have the pitches set for my 6 tone setting you can very clearly tell the difference between clad coins it gives you a very distinctive LOW,Medium and High tone for each coin.

my tone breaks are set at 7,16,27,37,and 46 47-60 is the 6th bin

Bin 1- 1-7 volume 4, pitch 3
Bin 2- 8-16 volume 10, pitch 5
Bin 3- Nickel Bin 17-27 volume 10, pitch 13 (Nice Low Tone) have found a couple of 10K rings in this bin range also
Bin 4- Scrap range 28-37 volume 10, pitch 5
Bin 5- Pennie and Dime range 38-46 volume at 10, pitch 21
Bin 6- Quarters and Eisenhower $1 coins volume 10, pitch 30 this bin is screaming Dig Me

As you can see by setting the pitches where I have them set it gives me a very distinctive, Low, Mid and High tone for U.S clad coins, I also use this in A (All Metal) Mode

I do not use the threshold in Park,Field, or Beach mode because that threshold in those three modes to me is a pointless threshold and it only works if you have discriminated TIDs out and even then all that threshold in those three modes does is to alert you that you have just swung over a discriminated target, why discriminate anything if you want to know you have just swung over something.

That's way too complicated for me , oldkoot , I have one bin and 50 tones and haven't changed the pitch in so long I would probably have to get the manual to do it;)

LOL

Running in 50-60 tones for me is information overload that would drive me nuts (or more nuts than I already am) LOL, I have tried that 60 tones also tried the 99 tones the Xterra 705 was capable of and was just way to much for me sounded like a symphony at times going off in your ears and to my brain so I run a 4-6 tones setting which does not give me a headache from trying to decipher all the different sounds, I do like to use the pitch tones occasionally also though
