Dave and I hunted a huge town property we call “open space” land donated to town use.
You should see if your local towns have open space it opens up lots of great new spots to detect.
The farm house hunt I was using my manticore
This included a farmhouse from the 1800s with close to 100 acre field. We started in the field but I decided to go back to the house and start there. My first find was a small crotel bell! not bad I was finding odds and ends a few wheat pennies clad coinage. Then I had had a really deep signal with my Manicore which turned out to be an old padlock. I also found two pocket watches. then as I work my way towards the back of the house I had a nice high tone which turned out to be the 1901 barber dime. We spent a few hours there on our way back to the car. I found the neat little cap gun with the ivory handles a old brass oar lock a real nice gold gilt flat button
So yesterday I went down to the beach by my house. There’s a old field at the entrance with an old baseball field in it. I was using my D2 sensitive full tones. I’ve hunted here before with my D1 and did really well until I was told to leave by an irate beach home owner who since has moved I was Working my way around the park. My first good find was the draped bust large cent not sure on the date boy was I surprised! I’ll have to look at it closely. I worked a specific area where at one spot years ago, kids dropped a lot of coins in this spot over the years last time I was here we must’ve found 20 silver dimes and a few quarters so I worked that area with my D2. I pulled two silver Rosie’s and a 1944 mercury dime.
And quite a bit of clad one, Susan B Anthony dollar on my way out there was a nice strip of grass along the side of the road I detected that’s where I found the silver 1941 quarter
