Largest coil for Original Excalibur 1000 BBS Tech

I have an original Minelab Excalibur 1000 BBS technology detector that I’ve used for many years. I’ve had the original 10” coil, a large SEF coil, a CoilTec Sovereign 15” coil, and now back to an Excalibur II 10” coil.

I’m curious to know if anyone has tried any other coil with this machine.

I use a 10" tornado coil for years and works very well.

Thanks Harold. Do you have any comparisons to the original 10” excal? Better depth or sensitivity with the tornado?
I think it's better all around than the original, i've had an excalibur ever since they first came out, went to seminors about them with the guy that made them, i've had all of the excaliburs from the sword to the 1000 and as far as the excal 2 my friend owned one and i use to beat him all the time. That’s great Harold, thanks for the feedback on the Tornado!

I always liked and used the 10" x 12" SEF coil the most, the 13" Ultimate coil is fantastic, the 8" Tornado coil is a great one too if you need a small coil for special situations. I had a 15" NEL Attack coil on it for a while that balanced good with the long straight shaft, but it died recently for some reason. I think the biggest I would go again on it would be the 13" Ultimate.

Yup that 13" Ultimate is Nice.

My evaluation 12x10 inch SEF great coil 1st choice park hunting 1000 Tornado coil overall 3rd choice. Heavy but well balanced 21x17 inch SEF my deepest for dime size targets, deeper than the Deus and my Equinox. Never used the 15x17 SEF and read post suffered on dime size targets. Yea I know doesn't sense but it works very well on small targets the bulk and weight isn't so good. HH Ron

One thing about big coils I never liked, once you hit the saltwater you have to crank the sensitivity down, so much that you lose depth and at some point so much using a 10 inch can be deeper and more stable. On the open beach I found the ULT 13 to be the deepest but as soon as the saltwater comes into play, it was a useless. The WOT was a little better in the saltwater but not much. Now that I hunt in the water only now, the 10 is the only coil I use, If I need more depth..I go PI.
