Ladies Band

I found this ladies band at a park that I was detecting a couple of nights ago with my Equinox 800. I'm not certain of the metal, but I'm taking a guess at Palladium as it rang up at a solid 20 and has a little weight to it. My wife tried it on as soon as I got it cleaned up. It's been nice having some detecting time again, since I am no longer on-call after business hours.

Yes, The OPAL is my daughter Tami's Birth Stone, but they do break very easily--which is a shame! Because it is a beautiful Gemstone! Ma

At first we thought it was Fire Opal but it was identified as Australian Opal.

I literally live within a “stones throw” of three Fire Opal mines. Gems from these mines were mined and some are currently in royalty collections around the world. Was hoping it was one of those, but alas…..

Thank you. It's been quite the adjustment getting used to having free time after being tethered to an after-hours phone for the past 20+ years. I've been going out detecting more in these past few weeks than the in the past few years.

Nice finds I just gave a nice opal gold ring to my stepdaughter its her birthstone better than sitting in my safe!

Odanscoil,
I’ve been to the one pit and its just a small rock quarry. Local information indicates the good stuff was found around 90 feet deep and then it was imploded and sesled off. Its well known to the Mining and Geology Depts at the University, nothing of interest on top.

CKing tailing piles may be fruitful
Rarely do mines get it all.
