lack of ground hum

I have had my Explorer for about one month now and have noticed that when I search for coins in soil the ground hum is lost on several occasions. I still use the 'Quick' mode as don't feel experienced enough yet to try advanced settings. However, when I search on sand, the ground hum is there all the time until metal is detected. I still find coins but is this normal? Thanks.

yes the threshold sound goes silent when ever you go over a rejected target, whether its iron or a non ferrous target.. its what we refer to as a null.. if its happening alot on land its probably iron. just go slow the explorer will still react to accepted targets.. its also why we try and us less iron mask in high iron areas

I have been using 5 for the Threshold setting because I do not like to hear the threshold going off and on. I used the XLT for years and I an used to no threashold sound.
