Knocking out pull tabs

Just got back from a Fishing trip where it was too cold to fish. I posted in this post http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,2151781 where I found a Ring that hit a +51 VDI. I normally notch out between +22 and +52. I get almost all my Nickles and I don't mind digging Zincs. I never found a gold coin or a ring that hit really high for obvious reasons. Before my trip I found this http://www.findmall.com/read.php?91,2151160

My question is where do you start your upper scale and expect to knock out most of the tabs?

Hi daddyflea. Since gold rings, as well as other goodies, will VDI all through the tab ranges I don't notch out tabs anymore and just dig them to be sure they are tabs. Especially since I found a nice 10g mans 14k yellow gold wedding band with white gold trim that rang up a VDI of 49-50. I usually use C&J and accept everything down to -80 and set 0 tone for -40 to -80. I have a nice collection of bobby pins that registered in the -30s but I also have number of nice CZ ear posts that rang up in the -teens.

There are some areas that are so littered with tabs of a particular type that I might notch out that specific VDI. Some of the more modern tabs that VDI 22 to 25 drive me crazy in some parks.

Assuming your not looking for any Jewelry, and just Coin Hunting...... Just use The Coin Program......I believe it's in your Program library.... It works great

If I am in a trashy park I will notch out 0 to +15, accept +16-+21 and then reject +22 to +49 and then accept from +50 and up.

That sounds much better.

I found a mens gold ring about a month ago below the snow that gave a vdi of 14. My buddy lost it. Most of the gold rings i have found were in the 50's.

Sounds like I need to start digging those 50s. I would have found the 14.
