Knives

I'm Sorry Partner.... I wasn't trying to upset anyone... I just thought it was funny he couldn't catch the ball... He may have the ligament damage you've described... That would explain it..... which makes it not funny at all... sorry
No worries. I just didn't want anyone to take him seriously.

Here is a set knife handle scales I'm making for a skinning knife. These are segmented scales made of.
Buffalo horn
White & blue turquoise
Fiddle back maple burl
Orange G10
These will be quite nice once finished & polished.

I realize this isn't a knife.... But the guy does use a square anvil and a torch... I just seems like a neat and simple project...
Yeah for a guy that just uses what he has got, he does a fine job at making them rings. I'm really surprised hes not using a dapping block & dies. Thanks for sharing that. I enjoyed it.

Some really good looking knives you've got there .
I don't do any blacksmithing, or farrier work,, but have been wanting a small anvil for a while. Should have kept some stuff my Dad had . I don't need an anvil often, but occasionally one would be handy . Was at a scrap yard picking up some metal for a job ,, and they had some short pieces of railroad track ,, got about a 2 foot piece for 25 bucks ,, it may not be ideal , but better than nothing. I'm thinking of going back and grabbing another piece so I can mount it upside down so I will have a good flat surface when needed .

I've used a couple pieces of track rail for years.

I don't know if the War Bird was ever in a movie or not. I just liked it and had a chance to buy it for the right price from an estate sale.

I've had that Puma for over 45 years. Bought it brand new in '77 for $60.
I've had the two Gerbers and the Japanese Browning in that pic for about as long as the Puma.

The Browning was my EDC for years, but they're worth too much for me to carry it every day now. I'm currently working on a similar design to replace it with. Ordering the G10 and mosaic pin material either tonight or tomorrow.
OL
Where do you buy those materials ?

Hay Budden Is One of the best... My grand father had one... I've never been able to get one.... *poor me *:heh:

At this point I'm thinking of making one.
1"×6"×8" cold rolled stock.
Snout 8"×3"×4" welded on.
Welds would have to be at least 1/4 of thickness.
Hard surface rod welding on needed surfaces.
Then a crap load of grinding and shaping.
My time as retired is cheaper than buying one.
Maybe a winter project.
Last year's summer projects still getting done.
Suks being disabled. But I'm coming back. Slowly.

Sorry Odancoils, I usually get $175-$225 for my 11" blade bushcraft style knives depending on the customers choice of handle materials. The knife is 16"-17" overall & made of 80CRV2 with customers choice of handle materials. Also included is a handmade veg tan leather sheath, with customers choice of stitching, color, & preferred carry posistion of knife & sheath. Blade thicknesses of .130" or .185" in my HD version.
