KILLER B'S OR TIMBERWOLF HEADPHONES???

I know this subject has probably been discussed many times but what headphones would be the best to use with the explorer? i see Timberwolf makes a headphone especially for the explorer but only at 32 ohms. All the rest I see advertised list 150 ohms. I am looking to purchase what would work the best. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. HH.

From what I read on this forum in the past, I bought Nugget Busters, they are gray ghosts without the limiter circuit. The limiter circuit consists of a resistor, but removing it voids the warranty due to modification.

The Explorer has a built in limiting circuit so the one in the phones is redundant. I like these phones alot.

I think you'll be happy with any of the ones listed in this post though.

Hello,

Read, researched, etc. when looking for headphones for the Quattro. Troy phones impedance is 100 ohms which matches Quattro's output impedance (same as Explorer's?). Wanted to try a pair, but couldn't find dealer near-by. I tried "Original" Gray Ghost, liked the sound quality, but not enough volume. The "Original" Gray Ghosts did have the limiter "hard-wired", which may have contributed to low volume. I tried a pair of new Sun Ray with the "on/off" switch for the limiter. The sound quality was good, much more volume than the "Original" Gray Ghosts, so I purchased them. They are comfortable and "work" for me.

I have used the Killer bees for 2 years and they work really well. Tones are crisp and clear. They have improoved my finds.

Hey Mike. If you would like to try a set of the Timberwolf Explorer Headphones, call me direct at 1-888-467-4332. I will ship you a set No Charge to try out and you can see how they sound for yourself. If they don't work for you, simply return them. If you keep them, we will bill you then. Thanks, Ron@ Dixie
PS' We are the manufacturer of the Timberwolf Headphones. HH, Ron

I have the 32 ohm phones for the Explorer, and they work just great. I also use the Sunray Pros (Killer Bs) and Ratphones. All of them are excellent headphones and it's really just a matter of personal preference which you like best. I find myself using the Ratphones most of the time but they are all winners in my book.

for some reason the ultimates didnt have the volume of the others. At least on the explorer... Try the originals or NDT's they have plenty

I really like the Gray Ghost NDT's. If you need louder then the Black Widows are LOUD. I also have the Gray Ghost Nugget Busters NDT's, these have no limiters in them. I like the Timberwolves but they just don't fit me as well as the Ghost do.

how much did those cost...my name is bonnie im from cape breton nova scotia
im really getting into metal detecting...im getting my first medal detector
in a month or so...ive been looking at all the nice finds your all pro:)

Cape Breton is one of my favorite places. What metal detector are you thinking of purchasing? There are some interesting places to hunt up there (I'm from Louisiana).

The Black Widows are the loudest headphones available. However for those of you with a hearing loss, "DOC's DeTacc Signal Amplifier" is the best device available. It amplifies sound about 4 times, if you need that much. It has a volume control and runs off of a 9 volt battery. This thing is screaming loud.

Take care!
