Kids and metal detecting

Hi everybody! I just wanted to post about kids and detecting. My 14 year old son and I have really reconnected over metal detecting this year in these challenging times. He’s at that age now that I’m not going to be “cool” very much longer but I feel like this has extended my coolness! He is out of his mind about it! He’s using a Garrett 300 and finding really impressive stuff. Highly recommend encouraging them to get involved.

My son liked detecting until he met very pretty girls, oh well, it’s only a hobby

Mama told me I had to have a hobby when I retired and it couldn’t be a girlfriend! I fooled her tho cuz I’m still a swinger (of sorts)! Neither of my boys have much interest but both son in laws are getting the bug, especially when they look at my collection of finds.

I am well past that age where my sons thought that dad was cool. Then there was that period of time that they thought that the old man was way behind the times. Now that they have matured they both enjoy spending time with their old man. One loves for me to deer hunt with him and the other metal detects with me when he and his family come to visit.

So we have come full circle.
