Kicked Off Vermont Beach

Bernie said:
I wonder if anybody has ever mounted a serious challenge to the rules banning metal detecting on some of the beaches. It seems that if they are allowed to ban us, what is to stop them from banning any group that they choose? Like children, old people, people who don't look good in bathing suits, etc. Unfortunately, such challenges would be costly and, unless there is a large enough group to spread the cost out, probably won't happen. It would be a good pro bono project for a young lawyer.
That's where the "National Detectorist's Association" would come in.

Im sure if he lost something on the beach he would welcome you with arms wide open. You did the proper thing and contacted his supervisor. If that doesnt fix the problem then i would contact the next boss and so on. Its best to keep a cool head and think things out first.

In my opinion,if someone is foolish enough to wear their jewelry to the beach, and loses it, then it is finders- keepers. If they approach me and describe the item accurately, then I will return it to them.If it has a complete name on it,such as a high school ring,I will try to find them and return it.Excepting these situations, what I find is mine,as it should be.This is how I feel about lost items, that I find with my detectors.

Sorry to ear of the strife, but it does sound like it is well on its way to being corrected. I am going to Myrtle in the near future. Anyone know of any "special" rules for those beaches?

Thanks...
