Eminent domain claimed by the janitors. Looks like me getting kicked off the property caused a furor. It sure did when I got home til I calmed down. If we get a few more we'll start piling the tea bags in the harbor. Maybe there's enough detectorist we can have a lobbyist.

Our public here is so lackadaisical there isn't any gonads in the bunch. There are local stories I hear about at the town board meetings that I can't believe happens in this area. One of my customers/school official told a person she didn't care who she stepped on to get where she was going. Fortunately she told it in hearing of someone higher up and she got canned. We have several in this area whose pictures are in the paper all the time and they have that same attitude. The rest of the public is intimidated I suppose. These are unelected positions that hold power over the rest of us. All I wanted to do was dig a coin here or there.

That's another good passion. Old westerns. I didn't think about it being a fake name. I should've used Judge Roy Bean. Using my real name gets me quite a few comments from business suppliers in FLA and TX. middle initial is W and last name Bush. Got a new golden retriever puppy a few months ago and AKC name is Buddy W Bush. The vet liked that. Glad to hear they aren't taking the money from you. Being in business I get calls every day from people trying to separate me from a few dollars for their "worthy causes". Come to think of it some of calls were from the very public school I can't detect. They also buy what I sell from a vendor in St. Louis instead of from me in the same town. I think I'll go back and hunt it anyway. Teach em to mess with this ol goat.

Does your state have a Department of Education or something similar? Write to them seeking written clarification on what the law is relating to use of school grounds.

In the city I live in, Canberra Australia (pop. 320,000), I sent an email into our local Urban Parks department to find out if there were any regulations relating to metal detecting in the city's urban parks and playgrounds. They were very helpful and wrote back and said there were no laws against metal detecting as such, and therefore I was free to go ahead and detect. All they warned me about was to be on the lookout for sharps (syringes) and report these to the sharps hotline, and to adhere to any heritage legislation that might apply to a particular site.

I now carry this email with me when I detect local parks, just in case anyone hassles me.

That didn't fly along with a lot of their other idiot ideas. Unlike other states here in Oregon we get to vote on almost everything they dream up. We have a deal here where if the state doesn't use all the tax money we paid in we get iwhat's left back.
