Today I went out with my my XP deus, hf 9x5 coil sensitivty 95 and was getting just faint high tones only with no vdi or anything on the display. I was getting quarters, dimes, and copper dimes really deep. I am still impressed with this machine and will be keeping it.

Keeping my XP Deus

Well I’ve only had mine for about a month now and getting more acquainted all the time. Have a Equinox 800 I’ve had for a couple years.
At first I was feeling some buyers remorse but the more I use it and study the Sabisch book the more I’m liking it.
A tip I got in another forum to turn the audio response up has really made a difference for me.
Do you use boost?

In the 21 years of relic hunting the XP Deus in my humble opinion (MHO) is the best metal detector I have ever used. Previously I owned the Nox 800 which I sold last year because the Deus in just 2 short years of detecting with it since Nov 2019 I have found more quality civil war relics and period coins than in my previous 5 plus years using other machines.
I especially love the no-VDI faint signals, I dug last Thursday a civil war sword hanger at about 8 inches that gave just a whisper but no VDI, only after digging about 5 inches did I get any signal at all which was a 93. This past spring I dug my 2nd bust Dime (1835) at 12 inches -again no VDI-just a faint whisper, and I dug a General service cuff Eagle I button at a foot—again just a faint whisper.
For those who say the XP Deus does not go deep does not know the machine, but for my relic hunting here in Virginia it’s the only machine I will use. Happy Hunting diggers.

I'm keeping mine also, but it had issues last week.
I know the Deus is not waterproof, but did you know it is also not desert proof?
The deus is great for parks and such where there is grass, but I think they need to do away with their prospecting mode as it is not a prospecting machine. My deus somehow got dust in the control box, I had a hard time turning it on. It would not get past the select speaker screen. When you die get past the speaker screen, it would automatically scroll through each program, over and over again until you turned it off. Turning it on it would repeat the scroll sequence.
When I got home I decided to blow it out with compressed air, problem gone for now.
For now on I will just use the goldmonster in the desert.

New can be good, but in the long run they usually don't obsolete the relatively new,rusting our settings modern, functional models. In the end it is up to us to learn all we can, better t or. comfortable with the available settings and functions, then putting in the time to master a detector.
I'm not into the extra adjustments of the Deus,
but I am needing to keep weight and balance under control. I decided to hang onto my ORX as I have been impressed with its depth potential. It will be handy when I get out of the hospital and recover enought to get out again. I agree with a lot of folks who might try something new, but made the decision to hang onto their current 'XP'.
After having had the EQ-800, I don't miss it when comparing XP performance afield. I don't see a need, for me, to invest in the pending new model

Dusty, sandy areas:
First place i used my ORX was a beach area with dry sand. Upon returning home i wanted to clean the unit of sand under the coil cover. I noticed sand grains stuck in the space around the key pads. I carefully removed these so they would not get embended under the key buttons.
The next thing I did was order a cover for the control panel.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

The little 9x5 at 25kfx is a remarkable coil for many types of hunting. Will hit both deep silver and small gold at very good depth. Is my go to for small yards where EMI is a problem or for fresh water beachs for the gold. Above 25 start to lose depth on high conductors but very good for mid range relics.

I'll keep my Deus too. It's a fantastic machine for the type of hunting that I (mostly) engage in.
'Thank You' and I am working on it here in the Recovery Hospital. It is letting me get some research in for a couple of WTHO's this year.
I use the XP wrist or armband that protects the controller and also let's me keep it easier to see.
