KEEP MXT or sell and get used F75????

Wait---Wait----I got one coming back from Fisher with a fresh factory servicing OH OH Please buy it from me--If you are interested I will give you one heck of a deal.

but the site I mentioned was smack dab in the middle of a lot of buildings, transformers, powerlines, etc.... Actually it was an old amusement park. I generally start off at a new site in De, and "move up" to Je if conditions permit. One thing I found at my cellar holes is that you'll maintain your sanity longer if you hunt in De mode, and check any "iffy " targets in Je. The 75 seems to get most everything you can get in Je in De too, but not quite as strong or loud. When I run over a target that I'm undecided on, I'll pop it in JE and rescan it. Generally, if its a good target it will clean right up. This keeps the headaches at a minimum :), but still allows me to recover most all the recoverable targets. After I recover that target I'll go back to DE again. I can hunt a bit faster too like this, as its less noisey (hunting in DE VS JE) and I dont have to recheck every little squawk its liable to make were I to hunt in JE exclusively. I am able to hunt in JE all the time in a lot of my fields though. :)
I usually hunt with a disc setting of 6, in two tones ( I WILL hunt in monotone though in a site where the targets are getting sparse), and a sens setting of 80-90. In really big fields where again, the targets are sparse and I really want to cover ground I'll usually hunt in all metal. its easier to keep track of the Gb in all metal,(you can tell if it drifts quicker) and the 75 seems to have better perephrial vision in all metal. I'm not convinced all metal goes any deeper than Disc does though. If anything, Disc mode, if set up right seems to have an edge!! :) Streak!

I've become confidant that I can hunt right along side of an Explorer, and get every bit as much depth. The really cool thing is that I can hunt FASTER though, and the 75 can see targets the Ex cant. I was really on the fence with my first machine, but after getting a couple hundred hours on the second one, its really starting to feel comfortable. I think the real key to liking this machine is not getting locked into a specific setting or mode. Use its versatility to taylor it to the site, and its a real killer..... Streak!

I have an MXT and it is sitting gathering dust since I bought my F-75. I'm not sure if I got one of the good ones or bad ones, but I do know I like the fact that I don't have a threshold grinding on my ears all the time. I do know I like the light weight of the F-75. I do know I like the quick reset of the F-75.

The thing about any machine is you need to take time to learn it. I took the time with the MXT and loved it. I took the time with the F0-75 and love it even more for the reasons stated above.

I think I'm going to try and trade me MXT for an XT-70 now that they have a small coil since the person who buys my MXT will have six months of warranty left, but I am still unsure.

I would not by any machine without a warranty. I've heard that minelab charges an arm and a leg for repairs and I don't want to go there. I've got five years on my F-75 and that's long enough for me to enjoy this machine.

My advise for what it is worth... don't by any machine without a warranty. Keep your MXT if you can afford to and buy a NEW F-75. I think you'll be glad you did.

Just an FYI. I traded my X-70 in, through a dealer, for an F75. The X-70 is a nice machine, but doesn't have near the depth of the F75.I've used an MXT with large coil for several years and love it for relics. Haven't compared the F75 as far as relics are concerned. Hope to do that tomorrow.

keep on diggin'
