Had a little time to go play yesterday so headed up to the EMI Hell Zone. Wanted to play with settings just a bit on the Legend and see what, if anything, would happen. Worked my way towards the edge of the abyss and hit a solid 45 deep so dug, 1917S wheat in not to good a condition. Could get to be an interesting hunt.
Didnt go far and hit a solid 25 at three bars deep so nickel or ring Im thinking, 1942P war nickel. So thats baffling to say the least. Every detector make known to man has been over this area so why now and why shallow? Maybe I can figure it out at happy hour……
Next little item was a pin of some type like a club or fraternal. It is round, with a light purple circular edge and what (best I can tell) are three interlocking circles design on a whiteish background. Back of the piece has patent dates of April 1908 and May 1920. The part that secures the pin says Grip-Grip.
Dug a flattened case mouth 45-60 or 45-65 rifle casing. Usually either no headstamp or unreadable but this one clearly marked F 4 91.. Also dug a 30 cal FMJ bullet, that was a first for this area. Last thing I dug was on the way out, saw gold and took a deep breath. It was a monogrammed cuff link with scrolled initials BW. Its heavy but not all gold. Its possible its plated and on the shank behind it I can make out “G” and some smaller letters and “co” at the end. It could be five letters total plus the “co” but there is some damage through the letters. Going to go have it checked
During the three hours I was there not one single clad coin, only other coin is the 1964 penny.
And of course the single high toned square nail!!!!
