I just picked up a beautiful Tesoro Sand Shark today in mint condition on a straight shaft for $300!!! It's just the detector and headphones but still!! I can't wait to hit the beach now!!

This is my first PI machine and first waterproof machine... I've detected wet sand and dry with other detectors but this will be my first plunge and first use of a PI... any input from the pros??

U said it's just the detector with headphones on a straight shaft??? So does that mean the coil is missing??? Because if so ur screwed

Not totally screwed. For that price you can probably get a coil for it if you watch the classifieds or order one from one of the forum sponsors. They are definitely still being made. Even if the coil costs you over $100, you still got a reasonable bargain. Download the manual from Tesoro on line and learn how to set it up. It's a PI and it'll go deep. It'll also sound off on any metal under the coil. No discrimination. But that's totally OK for some places. jim

LOL I believe the detector includes the coil!!! Never used a PI cause I am in fresh water. GL

It did come with the coil lol, just no manual or accesories. First post about her maiden voyage coming up!!

well never mind, its not the coil that'll screw ya though its the connector that connects the coil to the detector. Tesoro is having problems manufacturing them, some people i know have had there detector connector repair job or coil order on hold since summer of last year.

Is this all the Sand Sharks or ones manufactured during a certain time frame? If so how would know if you were looking at a good one?
