Just finished the deck, at least

wish he had a camera so we could have watched him.

I spend a lot of time figuring the best way to do things and get it true and level. I got the seat-railing done on the one side today and tomorrow it should go a lot faster, now I know how to do it :D

No more projects for me for a while. Mary says she wants hardwood floors but I aintagonna do it!:D I have repaired my Canoe and bought a fishing License and I wanna go fishing. Morels are poppin I hear. I wake up at 6 every morning, today it was 4:30 and am ever busy but it is not like when I was working. Now I do what I like to do and there is a lot of that to go around.

I should be fishing but have not made it out yet......Always seems to be something else needing my time.... Today we had heavy winds here on the hill and 2 tree's came down across the driveway so had to cut them up. They will help keep me warm this coming winter.

I saw ya with the leveling and plumbing the post up etc. Makes a better looking job for sure. the new seat looked good also From working construction all my life things lining up to me were important. We would get the building all line up with guy wires and transit before we started socking up the bolts. When we were in Spain, we visited alot of the big old churches build way back when and it amazed me that these 300 foot columns, stone at that were all still nice and straight.... No frost heave in those areas, but still you would think settling would knock them out after all those 100's of years.... Nope perfect..... Impressive to see....

you're just taking the credit for it ? :) You did a beautiful job on that deck but I already knew you would. I've seen your place and know that you are as fussy as they come when it comes down to doing things right. That's a good way to be though........never have to do it over again a second time. Very well done Royal.......it looks fantastic !

seen her standing over my shoulder telling me every move to make and every move I was making wrong! She is a great Cook and knows absolutely nothing about building anything but that does not stop her from telling me what I am doing wrong!

I'm telling her what you said.........

You did that project pretty much on your own... And it looks every bit as nice as anything I did. Not all my projects are good. Remember the arbour??

Morels are coming up here too..Went out yesterday and got a bunch. River is rising and we are having a community weenie roast tomorrow. We built a fire pit and picnic area by the river. Like you, we are very busy!!

I don't like to be hammering and sawing before 8AM. My neighbor says he doesn't care but he is a great neighbor and I would like to keep it that way:thumbup:

your method of bracing it works well and looks good also. I see you cleaning up now, will you stain it when weather permits, or will you wait for Mary to choose the stain color?[attachment 160845 stirring.gif]

have the steps to put in but I gotta think about it for a while :D Mary wants just a clear finish, at least that is her last choice, who knows what her next decision will be? I told her to go to Home Depot and pick out what she wants. Probably a Thompson Weather Seal or something like that. My arse is whipped! :( I am going Morel hunting tomorrow, come rain or shine.

The benches are not really to be used as benches, although if someone wants to set on them it is ok but it is really for plants. They do not meet our building code but screwum! The height they want them is eyeball level when setting in the chair and it would block the view of the critters.

The first one was the original deck, which I stripped but the rest is the enlarged deck:shrug:
