Just Curious.....How Many Scorpion Users Here And What For? Enough For A Separate Forum?

I havent used my scorpion too much. been practising on a lease that the owner says is difficult for any detector so learning the hard way. But now that the dry season is here i am heading to the Tennant Creek goldfields next week for a go. :detecting: :ausflag:

I use mine for searching out black sand deposits and the gold. Besides the gold I have found remains of a rifle and also a meteorite.

I have been learning as I go and I have to say that the Scorpion is easrier to use than one might think.

Ace

I use mine for nugget hunting in S Oregon and N California. Its a fun little machine for sure. I'm gonna add the littel 3x7 DD coil to it soon for sniping some bedrock. Have found some pockets of black sand also with it which yielded some nice gold in the pan. Would like to see what Garrett could do to a modern version of it.

I have one advertised in my area for $200 unused but I also have the Ace. What benefits would I have in getting the Scorpion? Thanks.

Thw Scorpion is a true gold machine, which means it will find small pieces of gold that the Ace and most other machines will miss.

Wow, how did I get on this so late?:laugh:
Yep!:wiggle: Been usin' the Scorp since it came out(1990?) :detecting:Second detector that I ever bought and it's still goin' strong. :garrett:First was Grand Master Hunter which is also still goin' strong.
I almost always use the Scorpion for prospecting/nugget hunting purposes only. Every now and again I'll use it at the beach, but it's not my main beach unit. Same thing with tot lots. Occasionally, but it's not my main tot lot unit.
However, in the gold fields looking for small nuggets or black sand deposits, it's second to none. Believe me. I've used other gold detectors that have auto ground balance and/or iron ID. DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT. Rule #1 in electronic prospecting=NO discrimination! Units that have iron ID can miss small nuggets as can units with auto ground balance. You should always dig every target when looking for gold nuggets. Many times a nugget will settle in the same area that some iron debris has settled, etc.
In areas known for larger/deeper nuggets, I use the Infinium. I actually have two Scorps. One is used as a back up or to have easier/faster access to a different sized search coil.
I don't really know if a seperate forum is warranted for the Scorpion, but I'm not opposed to the idea.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

I would suggest jumping on that deal. If you can't use it, you probably can make a profit on ebay. I played with the ACE 250 and like it but for serious hunting I won't give up my Scorpion.

Yeah and I got a 4.5 inch Sniper for it. Next time I get out I'll give it a whirl. It's in the van all the time but I keep forgetting it's there.

I don't have one but it's the one at the top of my list. Actually that's what I am coin hunting this year for. I plan on using my finds this year to buy a Scorp.:garrett:
