Just bought a Tesoro Silver Umax.....

First off I have to say the Silver is a great machine & gets a lot deeper than whats being discussed here. I have the 10 x 12 coil & yes it is deep. But the 8" will get a dime past 6" in decent soil without trouble. My favrite coil for that machine is the Troy 9" spoked. it's a toss up on depth vs the 12" & it is much lighter. Seems to like nickles also...And of course it loves Gold.

Run the machine in all metal when searching in less crowded areas. I set the disc just below the O in Iron- Or foil depending on how much trash. You will loose small gold if you run above the O in iron,10k thin rings, studs etc... ring up solid down there. If I get a hit in all metal I flip the toggle to disc & re-check the target. If it stays solid I dig. This will help grab some deeper targets for a closer inspection. Hover the coil over the target & see if it remains solid while shaking the coil directly over the position indicated by all metal.

The key is "ring up solid". Do a search on the Teosor shake & you will get my not so humble opinion on how to slice & dice with the Silver. It is a deadly effective machine.

The silver shines where there is a lot of iron .You just try to isolate the small solid targets in all metal & re-check in disc. A lot of machines get fooled by deep iron but if learned the Silver will tell you as much info as any target ID machine.

Also-Being able to adjust the sensitivity down & change coils makes the Silver a very capable all around machine.

The silver umax is the way to go I've had mine for a while and its great no problems.
